Ultra-processed foods - demonized for years for their supposed effect on our waistlines - do not actually make people fat, according to a bombshell report. The US government's top dietitians found the evidence these foods cause people to gain weight faster than any other food is flimsy, after reviewing 16 studies from the past 20 years. The review suggests the evidence that currently exists hasn't proved that these foods cause obesity. Further, this might mean that other factors - like calorie count, sugar content and nutritional value might play a bigger factor in your weight than level of processing alone.

How a simple cookie recipe tweak led to the death of a NYC ballet dancer, 25, in the 'prime of her life'
A new lawsuit has revealed how a simple cookie recipe tweak led to the death of a New York City ballet dancer 'in the prime of her life.' Órla Baxendale, 25, died on January 11 from anaphylactic shock after eating Vanilla Florentine Cookies from Connecticut grocery chain Stew Leonard's that contained 'undeclared peanuts,' according to the lawsuit filed last week. Ms Baxendale, who is from the UK but lived in New York City, was 'hyper-vigilant about everything she ate' and carried an EpiPen. But her reaction was so severe that the medication was ineffective, according to the family's attorney Marijo D Adminey. Ms Baxendale's parents, Simon and Angela Baxendale, are now seeking to claim damages of at least $15,000. The legal documents show that six months before the dancer's death, the cookies' manufacturer, Cookies United, changed the recipe to include peanuts but did not fix the ingredients label.

The findings allowed researchers, from the University of California , Riverside, to construct the 'perfect' penis .
PTSD diagnoses among college students has doubled in 5 years, shock data shows
PTSD diagnoses have more than doubled among college students in just under five years, a new study claims. Researchers found 7.5 percent of students said they had PTSD in 2022, the latest year available, surging from 3.4 percent in 2017. There was a particular surge after the Covid pandemic - when campuses were closed and many youngsters were asked to stay home. Once mostly associated with military veterans, in recent years the condition - defined by an inability to carry out daily tasks due to persistent and distressing thoughts - has emerged in young adults.
Fitness expert critiques Zac Efron's exercise routine - and gives his verdict on the star's 'organic only' diet
An exercise expert has slammed Zac Efron 's workout and diet routine, calling several of his signature moves 'a waste of time.' Podcast host Dr Mike Israetel, a professor of exercise and sport science at Leman College in New York City, posted a video in March where he examined Efron's routine that has jacked him up for movies like Baywatch and The Iron Claw. In the video, which has more than 1.1million views, Dr Israetel praised Efron's physique as 'lean,' and said the star was 'in great shape.' 'Most of what's in here is pretty good,' he added. However, he criticized the trainer Efron worked with for his 2017 Baywatch film Patrick Murphy, who has worked with the likes of Keanu Reeves, Aubrey Plaza, and Cameron Diaz, for giving the High School Musical alum shoulder exercises that 'do almost nothing.' Additionally, he criticized the 36-year-old actor for claiming he only eats organic food and suggesting that all processed foods are unhealthy.

Whooping cough, or pertussis, is one of the most infectious diseases known to man and particularly dangerous for very young children whose immune systems are still developing. In the UK, five infants - including some that were healthy - have already died from infections, with cases on track to hit their highest level in 'more than 40 years'. And now a similar wave is hitting the US, with infections already numbering 4,800 - or 270 percent more than at the same time last year. No deaths have been reported.
