Capitol View Manor is a very interesting southwest Atlanta neighborhood. While I've been very familiar with the nearby neighborhoods of Adair Park and Capitol View for most of my life, I'd never really seen Capitol View Manor until about five years ago, when I simply got curious about what the neighborhood was like if I made a turn down Erin Avenue off Metropolitan Parkway.
I was astonished to see a neighborhood very similar in housing stock to Morningside. Furthermore all the visible signs pointed to neighborhood stability. Well kept yards, not many "For Sale" signs.
Like Morningside, the dominant material in Capitol View Manor is brick, and there are brick houses in a variety of styles, and evidently from different time periods. Brick Craftsmen, brick Tudors, brick minimal traditionals, and a few brick ranch houses.
One benefit Capitol View Manor has (which some might view as a disadvantage -- but of course they are wrong) is the proximity to Metropolitan Parkway. When well designed and useful new commercial development comes to Metropolitan Parkway, and the existing businesses are refurbished and put to good neighborhood oriented use, the neighborhood will be complete, and undoubtably one of the most satisfying places to live in Atlanta.
