Narrative

Bulgarian Antarctic base on Livingston Island, South Shetlands. Located on Bulgarian Beach at elevation from 12 to 15m, next SW by W of Sinemorets Hill. Two huts assembled in April 1988 by a Bulgarian party supported by the Soviet ship Mihail Somov. Inaugurated as a permanent base in 1993, facilities expanded in 1996-98. Detailed Bulgarian mapping of base vicinity in 1996 and 1999. Named for St. Kliment of Ohrid (840-916), prominent Bulgarian scholar.
