The Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, headed by Assistant Secretary Victoria Nuland, develops and implements U.S. foreign policy in Europe and Eurasia. The Bureau promotes U.S. interests in the region on issues such as international security, NATO, coordination with the European Union and other regional organizations, support for democracy, human rights, civil society, economic prosperity, counterterrorism, and nonproliferation.

Travel to Wales, United Kingdom for NATO Summit

On September 4–5, Secretary Kerry accompanied President Obama during his visit to Wales to participate in the Summit meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. While in Wales, Secretary Kerry met with several foreign counterparts to discuss regional issues including the United States' ongoing efforts to support the Iraqi government and the threats posed by ISIL, as well as attended meetings with President Obama. Travel to Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia, the United Kingdom and Belgium

On July 11, Assistant Secretary Nuland traveled to Dubrovnik, Croatia, to attend the 9th annual Croatia Forum and to meet with senior Croatian government officials. She then traveled to Podgorica, Montenegro and Tirana, Albania, on July 12, where she met with senior government officials and political leaders. She then visited Pristina, Kosovo and Belgrade, Serbia, on July 13, to meet with senior government officials and political leaders. On July 14, she traveled to Skopje, Macedonia to meet with senior government officials and political leaders. Travel to Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Dublin, Belfast, and Reykjavik

On June 22, Assistant Secretary Nuland traveled to Berlin, where she met with senior German officials on bilateral and multilateral issues. On June 24-26, she accompanied Secretary Kerry on his trip to Brussels. On June 27, she traveled to Dublin where she met with senior Irish government officials, including the Tánaiste, and with civil society members. She also traveled to Belfast to meet with senior Northern Ireland leaders, U.K. officials, and with civil society and business community leaders to discuss advancing the peace process in Northern Ireland. Travel to Belgium, Luxembourg, Estonia, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom

On May 11, Assistant Secretary Nuland traveled to Brussels, Belgium to join Under Secretary Sherman in meetings with senior European Union officials. She also met with senior NATO officials in preparation for the NATO Summit in September. In Luxembourg, she met with senior government officials. On May 13, she traveled to Tallinn, Estonia, where she met with senior Estonian officials and with parliamentarians to discuss regional security issues. In Bratislava, Slovakia, on May 14, she spoke at the annual Slovak government-hosted GLOBSEC security conference. She also held bilateral discussions with senior Slovak government officials, as well as with key officials from other states in the region. Travel to Portugal, Spain, Norway and Denmark

On April 27, Assistant Secretary Nuland traveled to Lisbon, Portugal, where she met with senior Portuguese government officials and with parliamentarians, and participated in a roundtable with young entrepreneurs. In Madrid, Spain, she met with senior Spanish government officials, and spoke with members of the Embassy Youth Council. Situation in Ukraine
