On 26 September 2013, Turkey joined the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), a 32-member process aimed at strengthening political dialogue and sense of unity in the Asian continent and enhancing development cooperation on economic and sectoral basis.

Turkey’s membership application dated 1 July 2013 was concluded during the Annual Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue held in New York, on 26 September, in the framework of the 68th General Assembly of the United Nations and Turkey became the 33rd member of the process. Minister of Development H.E. Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz represented Turkey at the meeting and addressed ACD members.

Asia Cooperation Dialogue launched in 2002, aims at playing an inclusive and complementary role to the existing regional organizations. Turkey’s membership to ACD is a manifestation of our multi-faceted foreign policy vision in the Asia-Pacific region and is of importance for the development of our relations and comprehensive cooperation with the countries and organizations of the region on the basis of mutual respect and benefit.
