Israeli man, pregnant woman injured in Route 60 shooting

A nine-month pregnant Israeli woman and her husband were wounded in a terror shooting on Route 60 in the West Bank Sunday evening.
The two were hit while in their vehicle and managed to reach Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, where the woman underwent surgery for her wounds after giving birth by Cesarean section to a healthy baby boy.

The man, 35,  was reported to have been lightly wounded in the attack and the woman, also 35, was listed in light-to-moderate condition.
The attack took place in the South Hebron Hills on Road 60 near the settlement of Teneh Omarim. The woman was shot in the leg while she was driving along the highway in her car.
Sunday's shooting attack in Hebron took place close to where a deadly shooting earlier this month killed four settlers.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld stated that authorities were searching for the car used in the attack. He said the wounded motorists was able to drive to a hospital in southern Israel for treatment.
In July, security forces arrested members of a Hamas terror cell in connection with the slaying of a veteran police officer Yehoshua "Shuki" Sofer during an ambush on his van in the West Bank in June.
Several bullets struck the vehicle during the June 14 attack also on Route 60 in the South Hebron Hills, piercing windows and claiming the life of F.-Sgt. Yehoshua “Shuki” Sofer, 39. 
A week later, an intelligence tip enabled the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), the IDF and Judea and Samaria Police to jointly arrest a number of Hamas operatives in their twenties from the village of Dir Zamat. Some had already served prison sentences in Israel for Hamas-related activity.
Yossi Sofer, the slain officer’s father said after his death that “driving here revealed how dangerous the route is,” referring to the road on which the attack took place. “Anything can jump out at you," he added.
The Shin Bet revealed that several years ago, the arrested operatives had established a terror cell that stockpiled weapons and hid them in nearby hills. Among the weapons found were three Kalashnikov assault rifles that were used in the Route 60 attack.
