-so whose genius idea was this anyway?

"The Air Force estimated the photo shoot cost taxpayers $328,835"

Pocket change.

Over reaction. He should of informed authorities first! Great photoshoot though. I seems New Yorkers are living a nervous existence.

Caldera’s office approved the photo-op

But who requested it? Doubt Obama's dog walkers in the MSM will bother trying to find that out.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'd quit too. Must be painful, after swallowing all the hippie backwash about hope and change, to realize that the man you work for is a fraud, and a dangerous one.

On the plus side a few more eyes have been opened - the case of the aide in question demonstrates to many what a poor leader Obama is, unable or unwilling to take responsibility for the overall fiasco, unaware even of where his, the president's personal jet, was at the time.

This admin has no compunction about breaking with honorable and pragmatic tradition and publishing photos of deceased US soldiers, but when they screw up - to the tune of 300,000 in taxpayer's dollars, not to mention the cost of the havoc wreaked in Manhattan - they simply declare the photos will not be released after all. End of story. Now,who is the next conservative radio jockey we can go after?

"Over reaction. He should of informed authorities first!"

He did.

The bottleneck was a staffer in Mayor Bloomberg's office who didn't actually tell the mayor.

President Obama's office did their job.

No doubt the chin-stroking, do-nothing Republicans will be madly debating this one for weeks! :-)

The bottleneck was a staffer in Mayor Bloomberg's office who didn't actually tell the mayor.

Your faith in these crooks is touching.

"In a memo obtained by CBS 2 HD, the Federal Aviation Administration's James Johnston said the agency was aware of "the possibility of public concern regarding DOD (Department of Defense) aircraft flying at low altitudes" in an around New York City. But they demanded total secrecy from the NYPD, the Secret Service, the FBI and even the mayor's office and threatened federal sanctions if the secret got out. "

In a memo obtained by CBS 2...

Boy oh boy, the mainstream media sure gains a hell of a lot of credibility when they report things in your favor, huh?

So...when do they go back to being totally unreliable and in the tank for Pres. Obama?

Taka

"In a memo obtained by CBS 2 HD, the Federal Aviation Administration's James Johnston said the agency was aware

I am not quite sure who "the agency" is. The FAA?

Badsey: -so whose genius idea was this anyway?

That is PRECISELY the question. We all know that not every memo gets read. Our leaders have to pick and choose. I would think Caldera might be a little busy with memos that have the words "Iraq" and "Afghanistan" in the title, so I could imagine him skipping over the mail that says "Air Force One Photo Op". And if you can't, then your 20/20 hindsight is working well.

Every underling knows that you can get the big boss to sign all sorts of documents and "OK" all sorts of things by just shoving the docs and saying "sign here". Just how much can we blame Caldera for trusting those beneath him to not make such a collosal mistake? Such a paranoid would be most ineffective in ANY office.

So I too want to know, WHO the frak came up with this idiotic idea? That is the head I want to see rolling. But even more, I want to see the heads of the COMPLETE MORONS who came up with the idea of total secrecy and those that made it so on top of pikes in front of the White House, as figuratively as that can be done.

Next, I would also like to know if the pilots expressed any concern over this. Just following orders is not an excuse for performing an operation so stupid.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Louis Caldera. Just the scape-goat. They should all be thrown in jail.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

At least now we all know where the buck doesn't stop.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The dreamy-eyed Obama faithful and the foreigners are only fooling yourselves if they think he didn't know about it before it happened. It was his damn plane. Now he is letting someone else hang for it. What a guy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Boy oh boy, the mainstream media sure gains a hell of a lot of credibility when they report things in your favor, huh?

Heres the thing. They almost never have anything negative to say about any Dem. So that when they do come out and report something, you kind of jump on it. The fact that its such a rare occurrence makes it newsworthy in and of itself. When they actually bother to report something negative, you just kind of assume that its got to be true, otherwise they wouldn't have released it. I mean, they're totally in the tank for the administration, so coming out and admitting something is wrong, suggests that it really happened.

On the other side here. Not sure I believe that Obama knew about the photo op ahead of time. Seems more likely that this was a lower level decision. Someone says we need to update the photo. Someone else says, lets take one over New York with the Statue of Liberty in the background. And somehow theres a disconnect between taking a picture of the plane, realizing how low its going to be flying, and New York. If Obama did know, I suspect it was more of a update, then a permission. That kind of thing is not something a President would normally concern himself with.

All the arm twisting though is highly reminiscent of the corrupt Chicago style politics, using threats and intimidation. That kind of thing to me, says a lot about Obama.

teleprompter - "In a memo obtained by CBS 2 HD, ...http://wcbstv.com/topstories/air.force.one.2.996457.html"

lol! Looks like teleprompter has faith in the MSM only when it supports his chin-stroking GOP agenda, otherwise he blasts it.

So it's yes unless it's no, right unless it's wrong.

I get it now. :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hilarious - the GOP chin-strokers cry fowl over a mere $328,835.

That's probably what the GOP under Bush (who they supported) spent in a quarter second.

Oh, but I'm a "foreigner" so I'm not entitled to an opinion according to some on this board. :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This monstrous waste of taxpayers' hard-earned money has all the hallmarks of......ACCORN lol!!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

As the topic is fly-overs I guess the old air force adage says it best - 'If you're taking flak you know you are over the target .'

0 ( +0 / -0 )

In the normal world person screws up man quits or is fired. In the far right world man screws up then there must be a conspiracy, President Obama is planning to tell the world he is the anti-christ! Ahhhhhhh the sky is falling the sky is falling! Run and get the visqueen!!! Ahhhhhhh

Yeahhhhhhhh, I think they (the far right) are looking under rocks for anything to pin on the President.LOL

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Poor Mr Louis Caldera.

Obama throws another one under the bus.

Hmm. That one reads a little funny doesn't it? - I mean, on a thread about an extravagantly wasteful, criminally stupid photo-op using 'Scare Force One' and a couple of fighter jets, and authorized by the tin-eared demagogue in the WH.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

TexasAggie: It was his damn plane.

And he keeps it in the White House garage and washes it himself on Sundays. He uses it to do the shopping, but only at Wal-mart, because only they have a parking lot big enough for a landing. The keys are kept in a jar by the door. Actually, he first noticed when he saw the gas tank was half empty despite him topping it off at Mobile before last parking it.

I don't know, I think the Prez might have a little bit more to do than to go check on his damn plane every couple hours. Krimeny, but its no wonder the last conservative Prez was such a darn failure if this is what his constituents expect!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Another thread where Obama's foreign defenders vastly outnumber American Democrats and "liberals".

It's official: this fly-over was another major blunder.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Froth....froth.....shriek.....

Heh, this is no longer a support group.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Madverts: "Obama. What. a. DISASTER"

Hee hee!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"It's official: this fly-over was another major blunder."

Of course teleprompt. Apparently the pilot wasn't wearing a flag pin, and even once contempleted communism.

Goodbye USA. It was fun whilst it lasted!!!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

teleprompter - "Another thread where Obama's foreign defenders...."

LOL!! There's teleprompter's insecurity toward foreigners AGAIN! :-)

Really, in the overall scheme of things, this flyover is nothing more than a barnacle on the backside of the Titanic.

But teleprompter continues to wildly rail against it calling it "an extravagantly wasteful, criminally stupid photo-op using 'Scare Force One'"

W.O.W.

The chin-stroking members of the defunct GOP need to focus on more relavant things, like whether or not they will ever become relevant again. :-)

But that's not all -

teleprompter - "....and authorized by the tin-eared demagogue in the WH."

teleprompter seems petrified not just of "foreigners" but also of President Obama, even going as far as calling him a "tin-eared demagogue."

Even Sarge has more respect for his president than that.

This flyover is trivial and will have blown over within a couple of weeks.

Wouldn't it be great if the GOP expended just a fraction of their immense energies on making constructive suggestions about rebuilding the country that their support over the last 8 years helped destroy?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's interesting - the shrieking of the few remaining GOP supporters hides the fact that the GOP is pretty much irrelevant either way.

If they moderate they lose the base. If they cater to the base they lose the moderates. They have already lost most of their party anyway if only 20% of adults identify as members of the GOP.

Unless Obama falls on his face they are history, which in itself is a bit scary (but not really). The end of the GOP will create a new vacuum and a new dynamic we can't see yet.

Is moaning about a plane flight REALLY the best the chin-stroking GOP supporters can come up with???

SushiSake3 and Madverts,

Some of these "guys" have to put drama into every thread. I do not blame Bloomberg at all for being angry. He feels a sense of responsibility to N.Y.C. residents; probably to the point of fraternal instinct in a situation like this. But for a poster on JT to get "excited" over this, well drama indeed.

Many other administrations have procured such photographs and they will in the future. It was the lack of notification that was a bad judgment call and cost Louis Caldera his job.

If it was a total disaster then the Republicans will be able to use it as an election prop. Good luck with that G.O.P.!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

By Obama not knowing what his mid-level toadies are doing in the name of his administration further proves that he cannot handle the responsibility of the office he holds.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I seems New Yorkers are living a nervous existence.

Yes we are. You should have been here that Tuesday morning.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This should lead to impeachment hearings. Why haven't we heard calls for impeachment? Because the media is in Obama's pocket!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is too good, the only thing the far right has to keep going is a fly over!LOL Can this be the end of the American religious far right? Can this be it all they have is a stupid fly over? LOL Or could there be more? Hm could aliens be behind this fly over? Hm could these aliens be fueling the President Obama appeal? Oh my oh me, the world will come to an end! The far right has nothing but a mistaken fly over to hang their hats on!LOL

Is the far right dead?LOL This is a prime example of how low they have come.....All they have is this that mean......They are nothing more than a dead group.LOL

Good bye far right and good riddance! You cost our nation too much!LOL

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't think this fly-over business is a joke. But directing anger at Obama and even Caldera seems completely stupid. Its taking the heat off the real screw-ups who are not even being named, and that is really pissing me off.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SushiSake3: Wouldn't it be great if the GOP expended just a fraction of their immense energies on making constructive suggestions about rebuilding the country that their support over the last 8 years helped destroy?

If they used it to flush out the real perpetrators of this fly-over stupidity, they might even put themselves back on the road to relevance again. Nah! I think they are too bitter to come through.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

likeitis - who's bitter? It seems only GOP supporters are bitter about this flyover.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SushiSake3: likeitis - who's bitter? It seems only GOP supporters are bitter about this flyover.

Exactly. But New Yorkers are justifiably angry. Neither camp is directing their feelings appropriately. And our side, yours and mine Sushi, are too busy defending Obama to dig up the people who are the real problem with this low altitude flyover that should have been photoshopped.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This colossal blunder, its arrogant perpetrators, the uninformed and powerless witnesses, the sickening reminders of 9-11 are significant because in their symbolic totality they are quite disturbing to some us: we saw large numbers of the American people, terrified by their own government, wondering just who is at the controls.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

we saw large numbers of the American people, terrified by their own government, wondering just who is at the controls.

Well, if I saw it, I would have guessed it was the F-16 flying directly behind.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

likeitis - "And our side, yours and mine Sushi, are too busy defending Obama to dig up the people who are the real problem with this low altitude flyover that should have been photoshopped."

I really doubt the president even knew this flyover was going to happen, so I think blaming him is stupid.

It was a flyover - did anyone die? The fuel and other costs would have come out of an existing departmental budget.

OK, some people were scared by the sight, but come on.....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

teleprompter - "This colossal blunder, its arrogant perpetrators, the uninformed and powerless witnesses, the sickening reminders of 9-11."

You forgot to call President Obama a 'tin-pot crackpot' or whatever you called him last night.

Really, haven't you and the GOP got bigger things to worry about, like how your kids and grandkids are ever going to pay back the $6 trillion-odd that was squandered by Bush and co. with YOUR FULL SUPPORT??

Like I implied above, no one died. Some people were scared.

C'mon, New Yorkers are stronger than that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SushiSake3: I really doubt the president even knew this flyover was going to happen, so I think blaming him is stupid.

Then we are in agreement.

It was a flyover - did anyone die?

No. And I have made the point myself.

The fuel and other costs would have come out of an existing departmental budget.

That is where we are going to differ. I am good with budget surpluses due to not wasting money. But I can to do math, and I agree this is a drop in the bucket compared a bunch of other wastes of money that bear the names of countries and Halliburton.

OK, some people were scared by the sight, but come on.....

Luckily, nothing serious happened. But it very well could have. It was wreckless and irresponsible, and I want those responsible punished. Instead, I come here and get badmouthing of Obama, lame attempts at trashing the left, pin the tail on Caldera, and other such nonsense.

The only thing I am upset with Obama about is not axing those truly responsible for this. Caldera does not seem to be the man.
