Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.1%

Synopsis

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.1 per cent down at 22286.5.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 1.57 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(up 1.36 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.22 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 1.21 per cent) and Exide Industries Ltd.(up 0.97 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 2.41 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 2.33 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 2.28 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 2.15 per cent) and Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.55 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.1 per cent down at 22286.5.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 12.5 points at 24346.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 259.75 points at 80501.99.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 ended in the green, while 33 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Eternal, Vishal Mega Mart, Sonata Software and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Force Motors, Reliance Naval & Engg, Privi Speciality Chemicals, Godfrey Philips and Cura Tech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Keerti Knowledge, Bodhi Tree Multimedia, GI Engineering, AGS Transact Tech and Gensol Engg hit their fresh 52-week lows.
