Operation Sindoor: Airlines Cancel Flights, Airports Issue Advisory After India Launches Strikes In Pakistan; Check List Of Impacted Airports

Following the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, many domestic airlines cancelled flights from Leh to Bhuj. Multiple airports are also facing disruption in flight operations.

Airports across India have issued a travel advisory. This comes after India carried out strikes overnight against nine targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. It is also important to note that many flights stood cancelled this morning and airlines have warned of further disruptions.
In its advisory, the Delhi airport wrote, "For updated information, passengers are advised to contact their respective flights or may visit the official website."
Following the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, many domestic airlines cancelled flights from Leh to Bhuj - due to its close proximity to Pakistan border. Additionally flight operations to Dharamshala, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Bhuj, and Amritsar have also been disrupted as major carriers — Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Air India Express — have issued advisories and cancelled flights.
"Due to the ongoing situation, airports in parts of northern India, including Dharamshala (DHM), Leh (IXL), Jammu (IXJ), Srinagar (SXR), and Amritsar (ATQ), are closed until further notice. Departures, arrivals, and consequential flights may be impacted. Passengers are advised to plan their journey accordingly and check flight status," IndiGo said in a post on X.
Air India, while taking to X, said that two international flights bound for Amritsar were being diverted to Delhi. The airline said airports including Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar would remain closed until further notice.
As per reports, nearly 100 flights to these airports will be affected till mid-day. IndiGo operates between 16-25 daily flights, Air India around 25, SpiceJet operates between 20-23 daily flights to these affected airports.
Meanwhile, On May 6, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) also issued a Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) regarding an air exercise by the Indian Air Force. This NOTAM Is going to be applicable for both May 7 and 8 in Rajasthan and other areas that share border with Pakistan.
The government has given the armed forces “complete operational freedom” to decide on the mode, targets, and timing of response. Last night's strikes were carried out two weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack. Today, there will be also be civil defence mock drills across the countries.
