The increased vigilance and regulatory push come in the wake of the NEET-UG 2024 controversy, which drew widespread criticism and legal scrutiny over alleged malpractices, including inflated scores and grace marks.

Jaipur Police have arrested five members of a gang involved in cheating during the NEET UG 2025 examination by using dummy candidates and unfair means. The arrests were made following a raid at a flat in ABD Pristine Apartments located in Jagdamba Nagar, Karni Vihar, based on a tip-off, said officials on Monday.

The Kerala police has launched an investigation into an incident in which a student allegedly appeared for the NEET exam with a fake admit card. According to the police, the student, currently in custody, stated that he had downloaded and printed the admit card sent via WhatsApp by the operator of an Akshaya Centre in Thiruvananthapuram district.

Shashmit Srivastawa, NEET aspirant from Patna shared that the paper was tricky this year. He said, "Physics had more of concept based questions and Biology paper was lengthy. Except Chemistry, only 5-6 questions were aligned with previous year questions."

In NEET, the Physics paper was tougher compared to last year. I doubt more than one or two students will score 720. Some questions in Physics were even at the JEE Advanced level.

In Chemistry, the weightage of Inorganic increased, but the questions were from NCERT. However, the numericals were tough, not directly formula-based, and above the NCERT level. Even Organic Chemistry was beyond NCERT.

Biology was based on the NCERT book and not difficult for those who had mastered it, but one question on probability from the Mathematics section stumped many students.

Now, all eyes are on Sikar, which had 17% of students scoring 600+ last year, compared to the national average of 2–3%.

Also, the question remains: will the OMR game be played again?

This year's paper was conducted under strict supervision, and the results will reveal who may have played foul last year—provided the NTA releases a proper data comparison.

The overall cutoff is expected to be low. Last year, 81,000 students scored 600+, compared to only 29,000 in 2023. This year, around 15,000 to 20,000 students are expected to score 600+, or possibly even fewer. The NTA has shown students the real NEET level, which is tougher than when CBSE used to conduct the exam.

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police warned the public and aspirants against rumours and fraud calls by cyber fraudsters to aspirants and parents luring them to provide answer sheets ahead of the NEET-UG, scheduled to be held on May 4 across the country.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed immediate suspension of 26 MBBS students found complicit in NEET-UG 2024 malpractices and cancelled admission of 14 students for the academic year 2024-25 for resorting to unfair means during the entrance exam, an official source said.

Mock drills were held at all NEET-UG centres on Saturday to ensure smooth conduct of the nationwide medical entrance exam, according to an official source.
The crucial exam is scheduled for May 4 at 5,453 centres in over 500 cities across the country. This year, over 22.7 lakh candidates have registered for the test.
"There will be three layers of monitoring on the exam day at the district, state, and Centre levels," a Ministry of Education (MoE) source said.

Students are advised to rely only on official communications from the NTA website and avoid engaging with unverified sources or middlemen claiming to influence the examination or admission process.

Prohibitory orders will be imposed in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi, in view of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG-2025 on Sunday, an official said.
The examination is scheduled to be held in 22 centres in the city from 2 pm to 5 pm during the day, he said.
The prohibitory orders under the BNS section 163 will be in effect from 11 am to 8 pm on May 4 within a 200-metre radius of all NEET UG-2025 examination centres in the city, according to a statement issued by the Ranchi administration.
The orders restrict the assembly of five or more persons, using any sound application device, organising any kind of meeting or public gathering, carrying any type of weapons such as guns, rifles, revolvers, explosives, sticks, bows and arrows in the restricted area, it said.
