    Whimsical - uh, yeah...

I couldn't agree more with bullseyejack.

By this point the Castle character comes across as really irritating far too often for comfort, and when you see so many episodes padded out by his (un)amusing wacky theories, accompanied by that all-too-familiar "whimsical" and "light-hearted" staccato violin incidental music (just in case you missed the idea that a particular sequence is meant to be funny - it's not) you start to wonder if perhaps they shouldn't have called it a day a season or two earlier.

    Castle's ridiculous theories

I have loved this show for years, but the current season is driving me up the wall. The underlying stories are interesting, but Castle's continuing invention of insane theories, conspiracies and motives has become seriously boring and detrimental to the overall quality of the show.

In this episode, the relentless, ridiculous 'superhero' theme was so overdone that it became tedious, repetitious and overwhelmed the underlying plot.

While the other characters in the series have grown, Castle has become a caricature.

    • Trivia
When Castle shows up at the apartment of the dead man, Castle picks up a Dancing Hula Girl dashboard figurine. Its the same one that was on the Control Command Panel on the Firefly commanded by Hoban 'Wash' Washburne (Alan Tudyk) and captained by Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds (Nathan Fillion).
    • Goofs
In bed at the beginning, when Castle takes Beckett's phone, he answers the incoming call and tells the caller to hold. They then proceed to discuss hunting LokSat, which is supposed to be a secret covert operation between them and Vikram, with no movement on his part that indicates Castle muted the phone call or put the caller on hold, meaning the line is still open.
    • Quotes

Lanie Parish: Sorry, Castle, but this time, he really is dead.

      Richard Castle: What a waste.

Lanie Parish: To be given a second chance and have it taken away like this.

Richard Castle: He was just gonna go back to work like nothing happened.

      Lanie Parish: *What*?

Richard Castle: If I hadn't been so focused on his rebirth, I might have noticed that wire. I... I could have saved him.

Lanie Parish: Oh, you can't beat yourself up, Castle. I was starting to think he was some kind of medical miracle. Turns out he was just lucky. And in the end, his luck ran out.

[Alan suddenly starts coughing and jerks awake; Castle and Lanie stare at him, dumbfounded]

      Richard Castle: Forget lucky.

      Alan Masters: Somebody cooking barbecue?

Richard Castle: [excited whisper to Lanie] He's immortal!
