Good sequel. More like a 3.5 Stars. Rounding down because I wasn't deeply invested until about 70% of the novel. I have an ongoing issue w/ oppression as a theme, especially in my scifi novels. I see enough of it fiction and nonfiction. Come on, this is the future. Can't the future be better?!?
3.5 Stars rounding down because I said so that's why...
Listened to the audio book. Narrated by Adjoa Andoh who was excellent!

“When they behave properly, you will say there is no problem. When they complain loudly, you will say they cause their own problems with their impropriety. And when they are driven to extremes, you say you will not reward such actions. What will it take for you to listen?”

Hi H! To be honest, I don't remember much about book 1 (which I read). I'm listening to this one and finding it well performed. I find I have to go back and read to get the full effect/context. I like it so far. I'm not a huge fan of the series, so we'll see how this goes...

I liked the series a lot, but if I hadn't I would have stopped at #1

Haha! Perhaps I wanted to see if I was missing something. Plus I own the book. Though truth be told I bought it and the 3rd book when on sale on the basis of reputation likely even before I read book 1. I'm slowly but surely learning not to pull the trigger so fast. This year in particular, I'm trying to read books I own. At my current reading rate, it will take me approximately 7.5 years to get through them all. Not to mention that I keep adding to the mountain. Regardless, I would like to finish the series. ;-)

I liked the turn she took in book #3, and I hope you do as well.

Haha!! I'm actually guessing at the point where it got and started paying attention but it was after they captured an attempted murderer and laid out the level of oppression. ;-)

Haha!! Caro, you and I generally feel similarly about scifi books. You probably already know... ;-)
