"Everything seems possible tonight. People can change; I can matter. I can kiss a boy. He can see me so clearly that it forces me to take a second look at myself." - Brighton Waterford
I really loved it! I have been in a reading slump that has lasted for a couple of months now and this is the first book in a long time that I didn't want to put down and that I absolutely loved!
I loved the idea of the storyline and the characters. I loved Brighton and how she is a good girl, but not a goody goody. She wasn't fake and shallow. She was genuine and real.
Jonah was angry and isolated himself from everyone because he didn't like the dicrection his life was taking. His parents divorced and he has a new stepfather and baby sister. His father has abandoned him and Brighton won't leave him alone about trying to fit into school and doing some volunteer work.
I loved all the little ways they kept getting thrown together throughout the night. I loved how they started to see each other for how they are and especially how Jonah saw right through Brighton's "Teflon Coating."
It was a little emontional at the end and I cried, I'm still a bit worked up just thinking about it. But I loved the writing and would recommend this to anyone who loves contemporary YA fiction. ...more

It was just ok for me. I didn't like the characters very much. Bryn was annoying and even insensitive at times. And her relationship with Teddy I thought was really kind of strange, like sometimes she didn't like him or want a boyfriend. I honestly thought she didn't know what she wanted half the time.
I thought it was very unrealistic, I mean this is supposed to be like if it happened in real life and there were so many things that I just could not see happening, especially at the school! If students get into a fight they go to the principles office no matter what!
And if a child goes home and shows signs of being attacked then why would the parents not say anything? Especially when these parents seemed to be concerned with their daughter's well being because they are the same parents that are searching the girl's backback for drugs and alcohol and giving her drug tests?
So I'm sad to say that I didn't like it much, because I really loved the idea of it. I will say though that the mystery of who was doing these horrible things to Bryn had me hooked! But other than that it was just ok. ...more

“Coincidence is just the conformist term for fate.” - Camryn
OMG! Some books should come with a warning and a complementary package of tissues! This book blindsided me! As we say here on GR "THE FEELS!!!" I was liking it and I wasn't as attached to the characters as I usually am when I'm really liking a book...or so I thought! It hit me completely out of left field! So here is my warning if you're a big cry baby and haven't read the book yet, get a box of tissues because you will need them!
I really loved it though, because even though I didn't have that connection with the characters in the beginning, the story still captivated me. I couldn't put this down to read anything else and it was always on my mind if I had to be doing something else instead of reading.
And the ending! That was what really turned it around for me. Because once everything became clear, is when I understood what was going on with the characters. Why there was this distance between them and why I felt it on my end too. I cannot explain it any other way! If you have read the book then you get what I'm saying. If you haven't read it? What are you waiting for? Go to the library, borrow a friends copy or just go buy it!!!! But read it!!...more

“Every song deserves lyrics. Deserves a story to tell.” - Alexi Littrell
I really, really loved it! The writing was amazing and so beautiful! So profound and heartfelt! I loved the characters! Alexi's character is troubled by something that happened to her and she's trying to deal with it the best she can. She doesn't want to tell anyone because it will irreparable change the lives of the people she loves, forever.
And Bodee Lennox! This boy has to be one of the sweetest boys in all of YA fiction! He's shy but brave, kind and patient. He's there for Alexi when she needs a friend and she for him as well.
And Captain Lyric! I loved the songs lyrics on her desk! Like a secret admirer leaving her love notes! So sweet!
As beautiful as the story was it also broke my heart. I cried and cried. But I think it tells an important message. One all should adhere to.

“Self-doubts are like weeds; if you don't deal with them right away, they multiply. And before you know it, your garden looks like a jungle in Vietnam.” - Drew Evans
I loved it! Kate and Drew were just as hilarious as the first time around! The witty banter, the tender romance and most of all Drew digging himself another hole...and if you can imagine bigger than the last time...and then watching him trying to get himself out again made a quick this a very quick read.
And this time it was all from Kate's POV. I liked Drew's POV better, I thought it was more humorous. But I liked seeing Kate's side of the story this time, all the drama and emotions, I liked her better this time around too. There was just a lot of drama is why I gave it 4 stars.

I just didn't like all the reminiscing. But seeing as how Bennett and Chloe have had little time togther, I guess that's what you would expect from a couple that are missing each other.
But I still liked it okay. I still enjoyed the snark from them both....more

I really liked it. Even for a short prequel I found myself getting teary eyed over Paige, her being pregnant and the aftermath of what came of her and Mitch's relationship.
I wanted Paige to smack him! I know it was a shock and he had every right to be angry, but seriously???!!!??? Dude! Get over yourself! I wanted her to reach up and slap him in his face!

I'm not sure I can convey into words what is going on in my head right now, what I'm thinking about this story.
First off, I really really liked Jay! Such a good, sweet guy! And witty and smart! I loved how he tried to fool people into thinking he wasn't really this wiz kid and got away with doing all kinds of things.
Nicole was a mystery from the beginning, of course but I liked her character too. She seemed strong and with a good head on her shoulders, not the mean girl that somebody had to get back at by spraying her in the face with acid.
The mystery part of the plot!!!!! OMG! This is what I'm having trouble putting into words because it totally blew my mind! I never ever ever ever suspected the person it turned out to be, never! I was totally blindsided! It was so good! Keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time, fighting sleep because I wanted to stay up into all hours of the night to find out who did it in the end!
I would recommend this to anyone who likes mystery/thrillers. It will keep you guessing until the very end!...more

I loved the witty banter between Reese and Ben, I really laughed my butt off all through this book!
The only problem I had was the references to all the casual sex going on. I mean really? Ben can't say no to a beautiful girl who comes on to him? *sigh*
But that was the only thing I didn't like about it. I thought it was hilarious, but also really sad. Both Reese and Ben had difficult childhoods and I always get emotional when the storyline even has a touch of heartbreak.
I liked how it ended. It ended just as I hoped it would, with a big HEA!...more

A very cute and sweet romance about a girl and guy who fall in love but come from very different backgrounds. Ryan's dad is a congressman and his parents are wealthy, he is the captain of his college's ice hockey team. While Danny works at a dinner, struggles to pay for classes and everything else and also volunteers at a homeless shelter.
Both Danny and Ryan are awesome characters, so kind and sweet towards each other. They fell hard and fast for each other and like any other story they have ups and downs and hiccups along the way.
But I loved how Danny was so cool and calm no matter what was thrown her way. After everything she had been handed in her life, she was still strong and tough as nails! Ryan always steadfast and unwavering in his feelings for Danny.
I think it made it that much more enjoyable, because a lot of times and especially in NA romances the lead guy acts like a jerk and treats the girl like crap all through the book and then they wind up together at the end. And this one wasn't like that at all! I really did enjoy it!
I can't wait to read about Ryan's sister Emily!...more

I liked it. Even though the characters were not my favorite, I really liked the writing. This perspective of a teenage girl and her family with a special needs brother and son.
It was eye-opening and heartbreaking, but beautiful and real! Watching Daisy come to terms with this major decision about her family, trying to find a way to move on was really kind of scary. And as her friends rallied around her and how she used music to cope with her loss was touching and wonderful.
Also I love books in verse! It never ceases to amaze me how an author can say so much with so little words! And this author does not disappoint!...more

Defintely not your cookie cutter NA romance! So orignial and fresh and the writing was beautiful! I loved the characters! Izzy is more like a YA gir version of Dr. House than Doogie Howser. She isn't accepted as a resident to a surgical program and is trying to find a balance between feeling at first to little and then later too much for her patients as an intern.
Enter Marshall Collins, her RA at her dorm where she is trying to gain life experience while taking some college courses. He tried to help her with her inept social skills and I have to say that it was pretty funny, but his family is hilarious! And when they meet Izzy for the first time, I thought I was going to die laughing! He's so sweet! Such a good guy!

I really liked the idea for this one and I thought it was a solid 3 stars right up until about the middle of the story where somethings happened that I couldn't see happening in a real life situation.
I thought it was really cute and Hunter was really sweet and Lorrie was sassy until she started being stubborn and he started being an idiot. He should have told her what was wrong with her looooonnngggg before it was too late.
I was just so frustrated with the up and down relationship. Lorrie would push him away and then she would get jealous of his one night stands with girls and pull him in and then get scared again and push him away more.
Then at the end there was no body fighting for them, much less themselves! I really wanted to like this one. Like I said, I loved the idea of two broken people finding each other and saving each other by falling love. But I just couldn't get past the actions of the characters, hurting each other so badly I don't see how they could recover....more

They would be talking about doing something in their present time and all of a sudden they would be in the middle of a memory of something that happened the night before or last week.
Also the whole idea of the storyline broke my heart a little. I cannot imagine leaving the memory of a family member that I loved so much that it very nearly broke me in two behind and never even visting their grave. So I understood Emma and Peter's sense of betrayal.
I thought it was so touching that Emma and Peter helped each other find a comfortable place with their pain an sadness. And though the romance was awkward at first, it turned out to be sweet and tener.
I thought that the way their situations were so alike was just a little genius. The way their families wouldn't and couldn't ever talk about how the huge loss they suffered affected them and in by keeping quiet, couldn't prevent this inevitable outcome of Emma and Peter's journey of how to cope with their own loss and their families inability to grief with them.
It wasn't a sugary, gushy romance and I would even recommend it to younger teens because there wasn't anything inappropriate in the text. ...more

I loved the setting! A small town in Kentucky, where the MC can go for a ride on her horse and take in a view of the moutains. Makes me want to go there and see it for myself!
There was a lot of drama, but really you should expect that given the likeness this story has to Romeo & Juliet or the Hatfields & McCoy's. I loved the gritty and rough parts of the story. Drugs, shady dealings and a crazy family fued! Dangerous bad boy Micky and his brothers next to sweet and innocent Victoria.
I cannot wait for the sequel! I need it now! Makes me wonder if authors sit back and have smile an evil grin after leaving a book with a cliffhanger like this knowing what it does to us readers! ...more
