In general, having had no introduction to the story or background, I was surprised at how introspective, philosophical and pessimistic it was. I actually enjoyed how thought-provoking it was. My recommendation to other readers would be to keep in mind the context of the writing and not to expect anything along the lines of Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer....more

I say, have the balls to claim that whatever it was you experienced was real to you, or just say it's a pure novel and don't mention anything else.
I felt that this so blurred the lines between reality and fiction that it became difficult to know what was true and what was meant solely for entertainment....more
