It Works by RHJ is a short book, pamphlet really, on the Law of Attraction. I was fortunate enough to pick up the deluxe version that not only had the text of the original work, but also a PDF of the way it appeared in its first printing. A short chapter was also included that discussed the nearly anonymous author.
I've read a lot of New Age/New Thought material, but I focused on this one because a certain loved one of mine is struggling. I won't mention him by name because he says that I talk about him too much in my reviews, but suffice to say, I see him every day. Over a year and a half ago, he was laid off from a job that he enjoyed, had worked at for more than a decade, and he hasn't found anything else yet to occupy his time. Part of the trouble, I think, is that he doesn't know what he wants in a new occupation. It Works addresses that directly.
The mechanics of it are simple. Make a list of what you want, think about it every day, don't tell anybody that you're doing it. The assumption is that there is a force beyond our comprehension that responds to our thoughts and directs our lives based on what we choose to turn our thoughts towards.
The Abraham Hicks materials cover this in depth, but It Works was published in 1926, long before Abraham and The Secret burst into popular consciousness. This was, in fact, one of the first published books of its kind and even influenced the writings of that titan of new age thought, Napolean Hill.
To get what you want is no more mysterious or uncertain than the radio waves all around you. Tune in correctly and you get a perfect result..." pg 14.
"(Write down exactly what you want and the date you want it.) This may seem very foolish at first, but you can never realize your desires if you do not know positively and in detail what you want and when you want it. If you cannot decide this, you are not in earnest. You must be definite, and when you are, results will be surprising and almost unbelievable." pg 20.
So, let's cut to the chase. Does it really work?
The jury is still out. I made my list. :) I guess we'll see.
I didn’t use to believe in this kind of thing, even though it is absolutely no different than a prayer or mantra, which I have always believed in. What made me believe were two things....I read this book, followed the instructions and...well I’ll get to that in a second, but first the other thing that made me a believer-I also read E Cubed and used an “experiment” from that book to “conjure” butterflies...it was simple instruction “think of butterflies hard and with great concentration”
So...I used “It Works” to find my wife....I was at the end of my rope with women and dating. I actually asked for a skinny red head and poof, I met her online and now we have a baby....but before the baby, the butterflies. On my first trip with my wife out of town, I was overcome with butterflies-real, painted, sculpted, animated-they were everywhere.
It Works....just think hard all the time about what you want and it will somehow either happen or present an opportunity to you.
Read and listened to on YouTube @MasterKeySociety’s channel. What I like most besides the length is simplicity. Reminder on focus.
Used this as an opportunity to kick start a 17 month plan including an early kick off to my annual Mission Statement book review.
Every year for decades between September and December review how the years been per my goals and fine tune to ready for January 1st. I’m one of the 8-9% annually who focuses on what some call a New Years Resolution and follows through to the end.
Then, renew, shift, improve for next year. Toward a one, two, three, five, and ten year plan.
Always surfing for a new idea or perspective to try. Win or fail. Either way I’m closer to the vision with the mission in mind.
Already have the new desk calendar through Dec 2024 ready with the Mission Statement book, lists, outline, and the office will be finished with renovations this month. In process of reviewing the rough draft to edit and print.
Printed my own SOSS guide: simple one step success, your value expands your personal brand and filled it out. Enjoyed making this. Not to inspire only myself, but by example others.
Implementing some BIG ROCK (see Stephen Covey Big Rocks vs Gravel on YouTube) dreams on track now free of things like COVID closures that impacted the launch and tour plans. People passed away. Major injury that took 16 months to heal from.
For fun, writing out what this little red guide suggests. Easy to read on the TV and follow along with the narrator. Pause, fill out, and so on. Adding to my mission book for review.
Other books that I’ve enjoyed and still use are many. Some favorite: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Eight Habit, Third Alternative, Deep Work, Essentialism, Game Time Decision Making, Speed of a Trust, Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time, First Things First, and so on.
7 Habits taught me about mission statements. I still remember my son, he was about nine, running outside holding the Family Mission Tree exclaiming we succeeded at the nine pillars of our tree and were living the motto we created.
My son also attended an 8th Habit school in North Carolina that is featured in the book. He’s now a very successful master of his schedule, family, and faith. He enjoys his life in many ways. I believe in part based on the influence of these type of guides, such as, It Works.
The thing about these type of reads is, focus. Focus on what you want. Make choices that feed the goals. And, in return this will invite nouns: people places and things that feed the focus.
There’s many ways to see the same idea. If this tiny simple to digest and try guide doesn’t work for you, there’s many books on shelves saying the same thing differently.
This is the shortest of all the encouraging books I’ve ever read, completed, and for me, this works. It motivates and I get results.
This said, the idea for me isn’t about focusing on something that’s not for me. Like, being an olympic champion. I could plan for this all I want, and nope. Not gonna happen.
This said, if there’s something I’ve been striving for and this guide gives me a fresh perspective to get there. OR, reemphasizes my goals to strengthen outcomes WHoHooo!
Hope this review help’s: 1- find the book for free today; 2- encourages you to check it out and apply the idea; 3- have fun riding the wave and see how it goes if this is a first time trying; 4- smile, today’s another day to do the best to be the best and improve one actionable step at a time.
Simple and to the point, which I like. Believe me when I tell you I have read them all, or nearly all, in this vein of "you are the creator of your life" genre. While I like the simplicity, many who run across this are probably going to want more of an explanation. Getting hung up on a search for a detailed explanation is only going to keep you from focusing on what you actually want to have in your life experience. Try it and then let the answers present themselves to you. Figure out what you want, write it down and read over the list several times a day, with feelings of gratitude for what is coming to you. One thing I would add is to write what you want, not what you do not want. "I do not want to work." is not the kind of statement that should be on your list of desires.
If you are going to ignore my suggestion, and this book's, which is ok, below is a list of books on the subject that will definitely give you lots of words to read as to the science and philosophy behind this method.
Seth Speaks and the Eternal Validity of the Soul - Jane Roberts The Nature of your Personal Reality - Jane Roberts The Law of Attraction - Esther & Jerry Hicks Getting into the Vortex - Esther & Jerry Hicks Ask and it is Given - Esther & Jerry Hicks Money and the Law of Attraction - Esther & Jerry Hicks Think & Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill The Science Behind Getting Rich - Wallace D. Wattles You can Create an Exceptional Life - Louise Hay All is Well - Louise Hay You can Heal your Life - Louise Hay Receiving Prosperity - Louise Hay The Secret - Rhonda Byrne The Power - Rhonda Byrne The Magic - Rhonda Byrne Echos of the Soul - Echo Bodine
Not to mention the many youtube videos on the same subject. I'm sure I've missed many really great books that I have read on the subject but any of these will give you many of the answers you seek as well as bring more questions.
Oh wow, Oh wow, Oh wow! Truth is stranger than fiction! This booklet really makes everybody created equal in manifesting their own reality! This levels the playing field for all! THANK YOU, AUTHOR! One of the most powerful books on achieving what you want in life...and it's so simple! "It" will make so much sense to you! Share it! What can I say? It works!
I’ve read several LOA books and in my opinion Neville Goddards’ books are by far the best. However, this little red book was surprisingly simple and very similar to Neville’s teachings. It is very concise, short and easy to get through. Highly recommend this as a start to LoA or even a reminder of the essential rules of manifestation! Great read.
1. You have within you a mighty power, anxious, willing to serve you, a power capable of giving you that which you earnestly desire. 2. Occasional wishing or half-hearted wanting does not form a perfect connection or communication with your Omnipotent Power. 3. Power within can be called “Emmanuel”, which is Hebrew for “God in us” 4. Write down in order of importance exactly what you truly desire. 5. Choose your friends carefully 6. Thank the Power with the deepest of gratitude 7. Accomplish the lesser things first. When that is done, then you will seek the really important things. 8. It is impossible to be unselfish without gain. 9. You can be as you are, or be anything you want. The choice is yours. 10. Don't be afraid of wanting too much. 11. Your reward will come securely.
Without a doubt, the most empowering 30 minutes you can give yourself. I've spent many years studying, teaching and writing about the laws and mechanical metaphysics of co-creation in all its depth. This work takes away the deep part of the process and boils it down to the heart for anyone to quickly understand. This is powerful!
The little book called It Works, written in 1926 by an anonymous Chicago salesman teaches us about a Power (God In Us) that is capable & willing to carry to a complete & perfect conclusion every earnest desire of our objective mind but we must be really in earnest about what we want.
He introduces 3 Positive Rules Of Accomplishments:
1. Read the list of what you want three times each day: morning, noon, and night.
2. Think of what you want as often as possible.
3. Do not talk to anyone about your plan except to the Great Power within you which will unfold to your Objective Mind the method of accomplishment.
It is a very short book which can be read within an hour. I will suggest this book 📙 as a must-read.
This short (< 30 page) self-help volume was written in 1926 by an anonymous author who was “highly successful and widely known for his generosity and helpful spirit.” RHJ deliberately kept it short to make his method easy to read, understand, and use. He presents a simple 3-step method to accomplish goals with enough supporting details for the reader to determine their goals and start towards attaining them immediately. He doesn't pad the book with fluff, plus the book costs only $3, so what’s not to like? As for the method: it works!
Found this odd little book in my house today. It had a letter I wrote to my sister 30 years ago inside, so I guess it was hers. I am not sure how to summarize such a short book, but the basic principal of keeping goals in mind seems valid. I am going to give it a try and have already wrote out my list, so from that perspective it was motivating.
Cute little book! Write down on paper in order of their importance the things and conditions you really want. (be more specific). Read it every day(morning, noon and evening) Don't tell others, just work hard towards it. :)
You must have read loads of books about achievements and dreaming and believing. They usually comes in reams. This book will sum up everything in just few pages.
I wanted to read this because it was mentioned in another good book that I recently read entitled "Write it Down. Make it Happen" by Henriette Ann Klauser. "It Works" is listed as a "book", but it's really more of a pamphlet. For that reason, I wouldn't advise paying more than a few dollars for it. The ebook edition is currently $1.99. I've wasted more than that on soda and candy so I figured that two bucks would not be such a bad investment. The ideas put forth are very short, very sweet and very simple. In a nutshell, the rules to getting whatever it is that you desire are 1) Write it down 2) Re-read what you've written and think of it often 3) Don't talk to anyone about it, except maybe to yourself and whatever higher power you subscribe to.
Seriously. That's essentially it. It sounds crazy, but there is an underlying method to the madness. Writing it down helps you to explore exactly what you want and why you want it. Re-reading and reflecting on it often puts you in a position where you are always focused on your goal. If you are constantly focused on your goal, you are more likely to eventually take the necessary steps toward it. Not discussing it with anyone is really about not exposing yourself to the naysayers and internalizing that negativity. You should strive to surround yourself with people who have similar goals. Those are the people that you should be talking to. It doesn't really matter what the goal is and none of this is groundbreaking or earth-shattering. It's basically a reiteration of what many people already know. Some of us just need a nice little reminder and a pep talk from time to time. For two bucks, it works.
This book purposely doesn’t expand on its points. The author believes that that’s all you need to know to go and achieve your desires and goals. The short length is a conscious decision and highly inspired.
I know how tempting it is to just be a ‘hearer of the word but not a doer’ when reading length books on manifestation, no matter how beautiful.
In less than 20mins you can learn how to manifest your desires through building faith. 3 steps to be done 3 times a day. Quick and easy ... I'm about to start applying them, I am excited about my amazing results u
Just do it, you have little to loose and every dream to gain. Its remarkably simple although it goes against the biggest tenants we were taught in school. Get it all, then pay it forward.
As the cover says... The famous little red book that makes your dreams come true! from 1926 only 28 pages and right to the point. I suspect that "The Secret" is based on this book.
This is a simple idea, in the tradition of the "law of attraction", and the auto-suggestion popularized by Emile Coué. I think the core idea is good, but the way it is described here is simplistic. And its efficiency lies in subtle details you won't find here.
People wish to have this or that, and then return to their daily routine. The secret suggested here is to think more about what you want. Both in details and in repetitions during the day. The goal is to train your "subjective mind" to be convinced, so that in turn, it convinces your "objective mind", where lies your true power.
Some quotations from the book:
- To get what you want is no more mysterious or uncertain than the radio waves all around you. Tune in correctly and you get a perfect result. - Trying to figure out the how is as unnecessary as trying to figure out why a grain of corn placed in fertile soil shoots up a green stalk, blossoms and produces an ear of corn containing hundreds of grains, each capable of doing what the one grain did. - talk to your inner self about your desires until the doubts that interfere with your progress are gone.
I've read this very short book and I thought "wait,I've read this info many times before" ,it talks about the law of attraction in a very plain and simple way .it didn't add anything new to me ,You could use the principles of this book to try to attract something you want as an experiment to prove that it really works! I find the book of Esther hicks the best so far about the law of attraction ,more detailed and profound and get to the core of the whole process
Small book, only 28 pages. I read this one in 5 minutes.
What this one will tell you is...
...that you can have whatever you want if you do the following:
1) Write down what you want. You have to know. 2) Read the list 3 times a day. 3) Tell nobody what you are doing. 4) Choose your friends carefully. Don´t have negative people around. 5) Say thanks for everything with much rejoice. 6) Start with wanting all kinds of small things and then turn to the more important ones.
I did not learn anything from this book. I guess I should have realized by the number of pages that there wasn't much to it. I still don't understand the positive reviews, out of 24 pages there are 3 lines of substance, and even they are not so interesting.
Insists you keep your main goal as your highest priority-- that one dream which never gets accomplished until you persist with this type of single-minded focus.
