Blacktop Cowboys #4

One Night Rodeo

Rate this book
All it takes is one night to change a cowboy’s life…

Barrel racer Celia Lawson knows better than to tangle with bull rider Kyle Gilchrist. The sexy cowboy’s love ‘em and leave ‘em ways have earned him a reputation on the rodeo circuit, and he’s always seen her as his best friend’s kid sister. But after one wild, tequila-fueled night, Celia wakes up to find out she’s gotten herself hitched—to a man she never should have married!

When Celia insists on an annulment, Kyle has no good reason to say no—except he isn’t ready to let go of his new bride. But then Kyle inherits a sprawling Wyoming ranch, and seizes the opportunity to enlist Celia’s help. She agrees to lend a hand—with two conditions: He has to get up to speed as a rancher within six months; then they’ll get a divorce. And their marriage will be in name only.

Kyle gives in to Celia’s demand, yet he's ready to prove to her he has what it takes to turn their one night rodeo into a lifetime of love….

5 Plus-Big Buckin’ Stars!! One Night Rodeo comes out of the gate fast and will take you on a ride you won’t soon forget!! This is Lorelei James at her best! Hot cowboy lovin’ and a story that will make you melt!

Woohoo…this was a good one! I loved everything about this book! Kyle and Cele were made for each other. They were two halves of a whole, so in tune with one another, of the same mind, one heart, one soul, they were meant to be together!! Kyle is raunchy, sexy, sensitive, protective, sweet as sin, and HOT DAMN that boy was insatiable! RAWRRRRR!! Cele is a strong woman, not afraid to get her hands dirty, but thoughtful and caring when necessary. She has found herself married to a man that could handle her and meet her every need and desire. Ride ‘em cowgirl…and boy did she ever…Kyle knew how to show her a good time…Hell Yeah!! It was down and dirty, passionate sexy fun…Wyoming style!!

Kyle and Cele just wanted to make each other happy, and the love they had for each other leapt right off the pages. You could tell they were in for the long haul, and although a few hurdles came their way, they were committed, and it was beautiful to read about. There were so many tender, loving moments between these two, the book was hot, but it was also one of the sweetest stories I’ve ever read. A friendship that turned into the love of a lifetime! The support that they had from their friends and family was awe-inspiring!

I would have enjoyed an epilogue, but as long as we get a glimpse of Kyle and Cele in future books, and I’m sure we will, I’m happy with that. It was fun seeing all the couples that came before show their faces in this book, they were entwined into the story very nicely. I certainly hopes LLJ keeps this series going, because Devin, Tanna, Fletch and that hottie Tobin, all need their stories to be told. I would love to see Devin and Tanna together!

This ranks among my top LLJ reads, right next to Chasin Eight and All Jacked Up, and I can’t recommend this book enough! LLJ's writing...SHINES!

This is the absolute BEST version of this song, Stand By Me sung by Mickey Gilley off the Urban Cowboy soundtrack. I like to think of it as Kyle and Cele’s song!

Do you ever get so immersed in a book, have so much fun/enjoyment reading it, that you deliberately slow down just when you're nearing the end so you can savor it? That's what I found myself doing with Lorelei James's latest in her Blacktop Cowboys series. I couldn't put the book down, yet I forced myself to because I didn't want it to end! This was one of--no, make that the best erotic romance I've read all year! I have absolutely no complaints about this one--everything was sheer perfection. And after a disappointing start to the series, I'm happy to say that each book has been better than the last--Lorelei James has finally hit her stride with this series, and I'm dying to read more!

Part of what makes it so good is that we've already met the H/h earlier in the series--in fact, our hero, bull rider Kyle Gilchrist was one of the (almost) heroes in the first book (Corralled: A Blacktop Cowboys Novel). In that book, Kyle was in a menage relationship with his best friend Hank Lawson and the woman they were both vying for, Lainie Capshaw. Things didn't work out for Kyle in that one, but I always knew that he would land on his feet and probably have a relationship with the woman who was like a thorn in his side, Hank's younger sister, barrell racer Celia Lawson. Kyle and Celia have known each other since they were kids, always arguing, teasing, and pushing each others buttons. You just knew something was behind all that arguing--an attraction that neither wanted to admit.

Kyle...
gabe13

In One Night Rodeo, Kylie and Celia finally get together after a drunken night celebrating at a friend's concert, and they decide to 'get hitched' at a Las Vegas wedding chapel. Celia wants to chalk it up as a mistake and get the marriage annulled. Kyle's not so sure. He's ready to admit to himself that he's really attracted to Celia, has been for awhile, but didn't think he had anything to offer her. But an out-of-the-blue inheritance has just come his way--something he'd always dreamed about--his own ranch! Kyle convinces Celia to help him run the ranch, and give their marriage 6 months. If she wants out after 6 months, he'll give her the divorce she wants and pay for her vet tech schooling. And the marriage will not be one 'in-name-only'. Kyle intends to heat up the sheets with his 'kitten' and hopes he can convince her to give their marriage a chance. Does Kyle have what it takes to convince Celia to stay? Is it possible that Kyle and Celia both want the same thing, but are too stubborn/or scared to admit it?

...and his arms...

Loved everything about this one. Kyle and Celia are two fleshed-out characters. The reader knows exactly what's going on in their heads at all times. I loved the inner dialogue they each had with themselves. You get to see their hopes, fears, and desires. You truly do get to know Kyle and Celia very, very well. LJ does her usual excellent job with this.

Loved the plot. I love a good friends-to-lovers story. Although Kyle and Celia were not exactly friends for the longest time--more like adversaries. But in this book they showed that they had matured, and were ready to put their adversarial relationship behind them. They were finally ready to admit that all that fighting they did was actually a mutual attraction thing that they weren't quite ready for. Until now.

Loved the love story. This was one...smokin'...hot...book. What made it so hot was that I loved the characters. L-o-v-e-d Kyle! He was sweet, sexy, romantic, thoughtful, vulnerable, funny...I could go on and on. And he appreciated Celia. He thought she was smart, funny, sexy. He stood up for her when her brothers gave her grief. He was protective. And... he had mad bedroom skills.:)

Loved Celia too. She was feisty, smart, independent, a little self-deprecating, a little unsure of her feminity...but Kyle took care of any uncertainty that she had about her desirability. This guy was mad about her (and her thigh-length blonde hair!) And she was mad about him (and his arms)! Both Celia and Kyle were so well matched--they wanted the same things (a home of their own), had the same interests, and were perfectly matched in the bedroom. Their only problem was expressing their feelings (of love) to each other. At times throughout the book I was yelling "Tell her" or "Tell him". They came so close many times...

So undoubtedly, the book was hot. The characters were likable. The plot moved quickly. But what really made the book complete for me was all the details. The ranch life. The calving. The cleaning out the house Kyle inherited and finding mice in the smelly old couch! The going shopping for furniture and seeing Celia's pleasure that she finally has a home of her own. The reaction of friends and family to Kyle and Celia's quickie wedding. Kyle's relationship with his mother and why . Kyle and Celia growing closer and closer emotionally. How Kyle and Celia 'get' each other. Celia's confidence in herself as a woman and a ranch wife. Kyle's lack of confidence in himself as a rancher. Kyle and Celia both needing each other to feel whole. All these things round out the story and make the reader feel you're right there with them, experiencing their highs and lows, and watching them fall in love. And when the bedroom scenes appear--knowing all that, experiencing things right along with them, being truly invested in the characters--that's what makes a hot scene hot.

I could go on and on about this book, it was that good for me. If you are at all hesitant to read it because you found that the first book in the series didn't appeal to you, I urge you to give this one a try. This can be read as a stand alone (if you don't mind reading a few spoilers). If you enjoy LJ's other series (Rough Riders) and haven't tried this series yet (what are you waiting for?) I urge you to give it a shot. I'm starting to feel that maybe Rough Riders has run its course, and Blacktop Cowboys is firing on all cylinders! Highly recommended 5 stars!

Warning: This book contains explicit sex (oral, no anal) and language. Some light bondage with cuffs and rope and a blindfold; and some experimenting with vibrators. Not for the faint of heart!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

The rodeo boys

description

My status updates say a lot more than my review would...I really loved Celia and I wanted her to have the HEA that she deserved. And, when I say that, I wanted her to have a cowboy worthy of her and not some used up dick head that banged her sister in law for an entire summer!

Whewwww...that off my chest. I loved Kyle and Celia together. He had much to atone for and he did his penance!

I still dislike Lainie (more than ever actually)...I puked in my mouth a bit when she tried to impart romantic advice on Kyle and Celia's relationship...uggg.

Love this series (albeit some books more than others)...cheers

This book was an amazingly sweet and HOT read. Once again Lorelei takes a simple story line and makes it such an interesting read that it just flows and keeps us reader's completely hooked. The characters were fantastic and I loved and laughed at some of the things the H&h did in their past. The hero Kyle was a very sexy cowboy who had a very romantic streak that made this book sigh worthy. I also loved how the heroine Celia was there for Kyle to help him through a difficult time in his life and also to help him with learning the ropes of running a ranch. The two of them together were off the charts HOT and we had MANY of scorching love scenes throughout this book. We also got to read about many of the other characters from the pervious book's in this series. When an author does that, it's a huge plus for me. The wait is now on for the next installment of Blacktop series. I wonder who the next story will be about and I look forwards to finding out what all the other characters in this series are up too.

Oh Kyle, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. You are the definition of a rough and tumble cowboy but, with a sweet side that gives me a toothache. I wanted nothing more than to curl up next to you and have you whisper those hot nasty words in my ear (and some of that sweet stuff too). But, alas, you are in love with another and for that I can't fault you. Celia is your perfect match. She is the woman that will round up cattle, help you in the freezing cold until she can't feel her face and then rock your world until your core is molten. I could never compete. *sigh*

One Night Rodeo is my favorite of this series. I am a confessed lover of all things cowboy and boy o' boy this doesn't disapoint. Lorelei James weaves a great plot with plenty of tender moments mixed in with some damn hot sex scenes! I laughed a lot (these two can fight like cats) and I cried (Kyle has a sweet side! Celia does too) and I admit I did some squirming too.

If you like a hot book with a great plot and plenty of hot cowboys mixed in, well this is your kinda book! Dig in.

**TINY SPOILER**There are some books or series that stick with you long after you've read them and then there are some that fall short of even remembering whether you read them or not. Well, it's easy to tell you where this one falls. UNFREAKINFORGETABLE!!! I love all the series by Lorelei James but there is just something about the Blacktop Cowboys that spoke to me on levels I can't explain. I love all the guys in it but Kyle has always been my soft spot in this series so to finally read his story and see sides of him we hadn't seen before was amazing. Celia and Kyle were meant to be, there is no other way to put it and when Bernice told Celia what she remembered her momma sayin' "They fight because there's more between them than they understand at their age" I think I was as stunned as Celia, it was a really beautiful moment and something I think she needed to hear, even if she didn't realize it. This is by far one of the best stories I've read in a long time.

HEAR ME OUT OKAY I took my french exchange student friend to the rodeo and was trying to explain how American women like blue collar men but especially cowboys and THEN I tried to explain the whole western romance sub genre AND THEN I decided to check out and read the first one I found on Libby when I got home as a joke (kinda not a joke though bc I’m also having a crisis — do I want to marry a cowboy??) so anyway that’s what I did and honestly it wasn’t half bad

4.5 Stars. I'd have given it 5 if we has gotten to see the planned ending. I loved a lot about this book. That Kyle wasn't afraid to be vulnerable with Celia. It didn't take away from him being an Alpha Male at all. How he apologized without prompting when he was an ass. That Kyle adored and respected Celia in the best possible way. I loved that Celia never made Kyle fell "less than" for not knowing how to be a cattleman. I love that she exploded sexually with him because she trusted him so much. She blossomed in so many ways with Kyle giving her the trust she so desperately seemed. I loved that she wanted the best for him.

I'm a sucker for marriage farce blooms into love and this was one of the best ones because the couple knew each other their whole lives. Their love blossomed in a beautiful way. I just adored it. The author wasn't afraid to put the character in a mood or make a mistake, which was refreshing.

Recommended read.

Another great addition. This was much sweeter and calmer than some of the past stories I have read from author Lorelei James, yet still spectacular with sex scenes that burn your retinas. The characters just seemed so normal, they worked together to build a future and run a ranch and it was hard work both in physical labor and developing their intense feeling for each other. If you like the series, you won't be disappointed.

Celia stared at Kyle lounging on the bed, admiring his wedding ring. “Wrong. We are not going to Wyoming. We are marching down to that wedding chapel right now, telling them it was a mistake, and getting an annulment.”

“No.”

“No? I had a fucking head injury yesterday! You cannot believe for one second I was in my right mind when I agreed to marry you!”

“You signed the papers. With little hearts by our names, if memory serves. So some part of you wanted to marry me, Celia.”

Her jaw dropped. He was wrong. Completely, totally, utterly wrong wrong wrong.

Wasn’t he?

One drunken night in Vegas with a wedding chapel – Kyle and Celia start out on a crazy foot getting married in Vegas. These two longtime friends have known each other since they were children, picking fights and terrorizing each other from the start. Kyle has had stronger feelings for Celia for the past few years, but was never able to get up the nerve to act on them. Celia always came off as a wild child/barrel racer on the rodeo circuit, but in reality she’s on the shy side, sexually inexperienced and down to her last dime. Both Kyle and Celia’s dream has always been to own and work on a ranch of their own. So before they can say “annulment”, Kyle finds out his unknown father has suddenly decided to come forward and tell Kyle who he is, on his death bed. Kyle can’t get to him in time, but his father left him everything: a sizable bank account, home and ranch. Kyle’s never run a ranch before, so he strikes a deal with Celia, stay married for 6 months, help him get the hang of ranching and he’ll pay for her college education.

From the start, I loved this couple. They have such a strong, long history that being married so spur of the moment didn’t read to me like it does in other stories; it didn’t have that farfetched feeling. These two clicked from their scenes working on the ranch to the steaminess in the bedroom. They were able to give each other things that no one else had before. For Kyle, he gave Celia the chance to come out of her shell and he gave her a sense of home. Celia helped Kyle deal with his anger toward a man he’d never know as his father, helped him learn all about ranching without making him feel dumb or worthless and she brought fun and love into his life.

Sexy, sexy, sexy, Lorelei James always brings out the sexiness in her characters. Kyle and Celia christen every room inside and outside of their house in hot, crazy ways. It’s hard not to enjoy that, but what struck me most was how sweet Kyle is and that he’s a romantic. A guy who says and does the sweetest things to and for the woman he loves always gets to me. He had me sighing along with Celia after some of the things he told her; a very lovable hero that was easy to like and enjoy.

Celia covers up hurt and her feelings very well. With Kyle, she’s able to express herself more, but things in her past, specifically surrounding her brothers, hurts her badly. I liked seeing her stand up for herself, using Kyle’s support to stay strong. I also enjoyed seeing her expertise when it came to running their farm. She might have been a shy girl, but I liked the woman she was on page, sassy, smart and a great match for Kyle.

I overall really enjoyed this story. My only small issue is with the ending. I’d have loved one more chapter or an epilogue to give the story a little more detail to finish it off. It feels like it ends a bit abruptly and I wanted some more Kyle and Celia goodness to finish their story. Aside from that, Kyle and Celia have a love story that is completely enjoyable, so sexy (and a little dirty) and I loved going along for the ride.

I was not not sure what to expect when I picked this book up at a local book store, but this? this wasn't it. We've been given glimpse of both Kyle and Celia through out the previous books so high expectation were granted, but none were meet. Both H/H have a history together so the potential for a great story was there but Ms. James didn't take advantage. I wanted angst, emotions and laughter, what I got instead were pages and pages of detailed sex and little to no emotional connection to either characters. We've given a couple who had a drunken Vegas wedding, who admitted to loving the other early on during the book but refuses to tell the other so (and we all know how story like this drag on and on).

I became extremely bored way half through this book, why? Because this story lack a backbone, there was really nothing to this story but two people who refuses to tell the other person "I love you" but jump at the chance to have sex at every corner. I swear there must have been pages of sex between these two people every other chapter. And when we're not reading about them having sex? We're given detailed working of how to run a cattle farm. I forced myself to finish this book (with plenty of skipping through the sexin) because I wanted to finally see them say "I love you" so it didn't feel like I wasted my time and money on a book about sex and pregnant heifers.

This was a nice read, well written, but average. It also had one of my pet peeves -when the conflict arises because the hero or heroine assumes the worst before it happens and acts on it instead of communicating.
HERO is a Performer, cocky, competitive, and has been pining for his best friend’s sister for a long time. After a drunken marriage in Vegas, he strikes a deal with her to help him run the ranch he’s just inherited, and plans to use that time to convince her to stay with him.

One Night Rodeo is what I consider a "comfort book". Nothing wild and exciting happens, no major conflicts, just a real, believable budding relationship. A sort of boy grew up with girl, both were attracted to each other for years and never acted upon it, and then you add Vegas into the mix....

Yup. Quicky Vegas chapel wedding brought Kyle and Celia together.

I have to admit, One Night Rodeo was not what I expected. I expected a high-octane, wilder than any eight second ride situation. That is not what this is. It is actually sweeter. It is an alpha male who sucks up some pride to ask his woman for help because she knows ranching and he does not.

The minor annoyance of this book were the amount of secrets between our blossoming lovers, but it eventually all worked out. What I loved was how it was described that he looked at her while holding a baby, and how Celia noticed how hard Kyle was working for her around their new home.

It has to be tough when hes used to being the alpha, but this is her world and he has to ask for help. He learned his lesson during that calving season. He will soak up his pride now.

My personal take: I read One Night Rodeo on a rainy Saturday. It was a short easy read that just made you feel good and fuzzy. Though, after the description of our Bull Rider... I realllly want to attend a rodeo and I must admit..... I have been wearing my long hair in a braid to see if my man has the same reaction!

I have two confessions to make. First, I've been in love with Kyle Gilchrist since I first read Corralled. I guess that had a lot to do with the fact that I saw him as the bad boy in the series. Rough, raw and dirty. And second, I think I may have had a crush on Celia Lawson for almost as long. She's the type of heroine I love to read about!

Of course I've wanted them to have a book since the ending of book one and now here they are. I think I may say this every time after I finish a book in this series but, this is my favorite book in the Blacktop Cowboys series so far....and by far! It wasn't what I expected at all in a way, and it exceeded all my expectations!

I don't really want to ruin the book for you and tell you what happens by doing a recap of the story. I was in for lots of surprises and enjoyed every single one of them. So just let me tell you that I saw a whole new side of Kyle that was sweet and vulnerable and made me want to cuddle up to him and hug him, not just jump his bones until he begged me to stop. Yes, he's still hard ass Kyle, rough and dirty Kyle and very alpha Kyle. But he also showed he can be romantic, a protector, a rock to lean on, understanding, comforting, vulnerable, and hurt.

I had no idea everything he had to go through in his life and for him to be the man he is today after having that in his past, still being positive and a good person...just makes you give him more credit for what he's achieved and the person he's become.

The path that he had to take in this book was both easy and hard at the same time. One day he had nothing and the next he had everything he'd ever wanted. And sometimes, that's not easy to deal with either. People will still make mistakes and things can't be perfect.

But enough about Kyle...lets talk about Celia. Celia was also not what I expected. Yeah she's a tough chick but she's not what she always shows others. She's had issues with her relationship with her brothers that she never brought up before, she's insecure about her looks although she tries to portray an air of confidence. She can be easily hurt and then she holds it in.

I think Kyle was the perfect man to love her from the inside out and the outside in. He loves everything about her and is not afraid to show her. And Celia does the same for him. They are truly the perfect complement to each other. That doesn't mean they are perfect as individuals but that makes them so much better.

Favorite Quotes:
"Oh yes, little wifey mine, we'll be having sex. Lots and lots of sex. Sweet sex, raunchy sex, shower sex, sex on the floor, sex against the wall, sex in bed, sex in the truck, sex in the barn, sex on the tractor, and sex on this table." He smacked it hard.
Her silver eyes went wide.
"And in case that wasn't clear, I'll say it plain. I like sex. A lot of sex. Morning, noon and night."

"That tongue of yours is an awesome alarm clock."

My Rating: ★★★★

Book Description:
All it takes is one night to change a cowboy’s life… Barrel racer Celia Lawson knows better than to tangle with bull rider Kyle Gilchrist. Kyle gives in to Celia’s demand, yet he's ready to prove to her he has what it takes to turn their one night rodeo into a lifetime of love.

My Thoughts:
This book in three words: Steamy...Sexy...and Sweet!

Kyle and Celia were such compelling protagonists. It was a delight reading the interaction between them. They first had a love-hate relationship...which turned into lust-sorta-kinda-hate...which then turned into LOVE-with lots of lust thrown in. The transition between the three stages was humorous and sweet and never failed to keep my attention. Both Kyle and Celia struggled with a bit of people consciousness in that they were constantly aware (or thought they were aware) of what other people thought about them....including each other. But Celia, the normal spitfire, was so genuine in her support of Kyle as he learned the ropes as a rancher. And Kyle was so sweet in loving Celia as a woman should be loved.

I loved it story and would definitely recommend it to others and read it again.

Loralei James has done it again. One Night Rodeo was awesome!

Feels like I’ve been waiting for Kyle’s story forever, and it was worth the wait. Kyle is my favorite Blacktop Cowboy so far: Sexy and rugged blended perfectly with sweet and romantic. He couldn’t get any more perfect. Not to say he doesn’t make some mistakes. Sometimes he’s a downright bonehead, but I love that he recognizes he’s made a mistake and is willing to apologize—and boy howdy can the man apologize. He had me almost wishing he’d do something stupid just to get to his version of sorry—he says sorry soooo good.

Celia was a great heroine. She’s strong and self sufficient and has a good heart. I love the sparks that fly between her and Kyle. There is so much tension between them, sometimes good sometimes not so good. And it’s great they have a lot of history. I love when Bernice pulls Celia aside and tells her something her mother had said years ago when Celia and Kyle were kids and constantly sniping at each other. She said, ”They fight because there’s more between them than they understand at their age.” Loralei James plays on that history perfectly. I finished reading the book with a huge grin, thinking Kyle and Celia were made for each other.

The only problem is every time I read a Loralei James book I feel a little bummed out after. Not because the story left me feeling that way, but because I have to wait so long until the next release. I almost feel like sending her a lifetime supply of coffee so she can stay awake more to write and give us more books. That’s reasonable, right?

I can't get enough of Kyle Gilchrist! Lorelei James must love this character very much, she wrote one of the most fantastic man ever. Thanks LJ for writing Kyle and Celia's story. These two deserved their own HEA.

Despite my apparent love for Kyle, this is seriously a great story. A childhood friends turn lovers kind of story and while it's sweet it's not saccharine or sickening sweet. What I really love is how this kind of erotic romance still in touch with reality, people fight, family problems, financial problems and for someone who has never known a ranch life, hell I haven't even been to a real ranch before, it is somewhat educational :p

This is definitely one of the best by LJ so far! Can't wait to read her other cowboys/cowgirls/ranchers soon.

I do like the plot of this one. Kyle and Celia aren't too shabby as well. however, since i don't follow this series because it should, and it does, works as a stand-alone, I find other characters somewhat interrupting. I could do less of them and more Kyle and Celia. And I don't know, compared to other LJ novels, ONR is somewhat tame in the bedroom department.

I just wanted a cowboy romance book to tide me over. Something A bit Like a Kristen Ashley book. So I bought this beast. Which was sweet. But I don't know how much I can like a heroine that doesn't wear a bra.

This book also puts me right off owning a ranch. And I was seconds from flying to the US to make that happen. Until I read this book. Sounds a bit shit with all the cows bleeding out and stuff. And there's so much wood chopping. SO much.

I love Lorelei James books, but this one just didn't keep my interest. It was sweet at moments and other times I would lose interest.

There’s a thin line between love and hate……or is it lust and hate?

Even as kids Kyle and Celia seem to rub each other the wrong way, arguing and fighting has always been their MO. They live and breathe to butt heads. So imagine the shock when Celia wakes up the morning after a fun filled and very drunken night in Vegas only to realize they also rub each other in all the right ways, and that’s not all, now they’re……married.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas….NOT ALWAYS…

Kyle wakes up in Vegas married to his nemesis and secret crush…OH, she also just happens to be his best friends’ little sister. On top of that he gets an emergency call from his momma, that requires him to head home without taking care of the quickie Vegas wedding. NOT that he wants to, Celia has a different opinion.

We first met Kyle in CORRALLED (Blacktop Cowboys #1). I was ok when things didn’t work out between him and Lanie because I wanted Hank and Lanie together. I also wanted Kyle to have his own amazing HEA and Ms. James did not disappoint.

In CORRALLED I felt the loveable, fun, sexy Kyle had some growing up to do. Let me tell you, he grew up just fine, as much as I was already in love with Kyle in CORRALLED, I fell even more in love with him in ONR. He is sexy, sweet and not willing to give up on Celia or their love.
Celia is feisty, headstrong and vulnerable. The banter between Kyle and Celia is addicting, I truly did not want their book to end.

ONR is not just a book about Kyle and Celia dealing with their newfound relationship and smoking hot sex. Kyle and Celia have to deal with the reactions of her overprotective brothers and the fact that Kyle had a sexual relationship with her sister in law, one that included a menage with her brother (strictly MFM menage, no sex between Kyle and Hank). Ms. James took a sensitive subject that had the potential to ruin Kyle and Celia’s relationship and worked it out without making me think “JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!” while I was reading it

ONE NIGHT RODEO is another outstanding example of the talent of Lorelei James. Once again she has written a unique story full of family, friends, conflict, romance and steamin’ hot sex. Ms. James amazes me with her ability to keep each book refreshing and different. She is one of my go to authors when I need a book I know will satisfy me from start to finish.

One Night Rodeo Review – FIVE STARS

In the blink of an eye Celia Lawson and Kyle Gilchrist’s lives changed forever. After a fuelled night of Alcohol and pain medication, Celia wakes up to find herself hitched to her lifelong pain in the arse friend, Kyle. Celia immediately demands an annulment, but Kyle just can’t bring himself to agree, not when his been harbouring secret feelings for Celia for the last two years. So when Kyle suddenly inherits a Wyoming Ranch Celia agrees to hang around to teach him the ropes of running a ranch, but on two conditions. One: After six months they file for divorce and secondly, the marriage is name only.....pfft.

Okay so I say this at the end of EVERY Lorelei James book I read, but *sigh* this was my favorite cowboy read so far. And I'm delving in right here, but how could you not love a book with paragraphs like THIS in it:

"Oh yes, little wifey mine, we'll be having sex. Lots and lots of sex. Sweet sex, raunchy sex, shower sex, sex on the floor, sex against the wall, sex in bed, sex in the truck, sex in the barn, sex on the tractor, and sex on this table." He smacked it hard.
Her silver eyes went wide.
"And in case that wasn't clear, I'll say it plain. I like sex. A lot of sex. Morning, noon and night."

Okay – so like kind of sounds like a Dr. Suess book, but DAYUM! So I am lover of all things cowboy related; the music, the bull riding, the rodeos, the cars, and the speech – you name it, but Ms. James went all gooey on my heart when she bought Kyle into my life. This man was the bad boy in this series and I couldn’t not wait to get his book and to have him paired up with wild Celia just was a perfect ending. One Night Rodeo weaved an awesome plot with these two lovable heroes. There are just so many hot wicked moments tied in with the tear jerking tenderness that Kyle delivered with expert skill
.
“That tongue of yours is an awesome alarm clock."

One night Rodeo kept me wanting more the entire read. And reading their relationship grow from love/ hate to love was humorous as it was entertaining. Ms James has only showed us again the talent of her writing and the words that she weaves. With stories full of family, friends, love, eroticism and laughter. I loved this story and would recommend this series and any other series by this wonderful author to anyone!

”They fight because there’s more between them than they understand at their age.”

Lorelei James stays on the bull for the full 8 minutes in this dynamic Cowboy Romance. She never lets you down!

Description:

ll it takes is one night to change a cowboy’s life… Barrel racer Celia Lawson knows better than to tangle with bull rider Kyle Gilchrist. Kyle gives in to Celia’s demand, yet he's ready to prove to her he has what it takes to turn their one night rodeo into a lifetime of love

My Thoughts:

Kyle broke my heart in book 1 of the Blacktop Cowboys Series. He was the one who didn't win the girl in that book. Now 3 books later we finally get Kyle's story and what a story! I sensed the foreshadowing in the previous novels that Kyle and Celia's fireworks...maybe turn into a different type of fireworks and I wasn't disappointed. LJ took an interesting path to get to the HEA in this book. I loved that they got married before the romance had even taken off. The book was truly about the characters with little other side stories. The focus is totally on what is happening with each main character and their thoughts and experiences. If I had to describe this book in one word it would be genuine. The emotions, the reactions, the farm work....it all seemed so real. I think this is up there with her best ever books. I do need to mention Lorelei James is one of my favorite author's... her consistency lets you know that you will never be disappointed in any novel written by her...it is money well spent.

5 bright stars for this newest Lorelei James novel....now...HOW long do I have to wait for the next one???? what ever the answer it is way toooooo long!

Kyle and Celia's story turned out to be a sweet ending for two very argumentative characters that have been popping up in the last 3 books. I'm glad to see their different sides of themselves to see that they was more to them. Its funny that their friends saw more to their relationship than their family. The story had their ups and downs of their growing relationship because Kyle had to depend on Celia for ranching knowledge and put aside his pride. I bet it was tough to set aside his pride and learn a thing or two from a woman. I'm glad that Kyle finally realized that he wasn't going to find the truth about his father looking through his stuff. sometimes you'll never get the answers to those questions and you have to let it go. when he realized all that he had with his mother who knew what he had and to stop looking at what he missed. Its not his fault his father missed out on knowing a good kid and now the man.
The story had some serious moments when they had to confront Celia's brothers and tell them the news that they were married. It's a shame when family doesn't react and support the way that they should. when they returned to apologize that had me crying. I was hurting for Celia right then. I can't imagine being shoved aside when the only family you've known doesn't have time for you.
Mistakes were made on both sides when they didn't come forth with information that effected the marriage and partnership. Secrets are bond to back and bite you in the butt and it did for both of them.
I do love it when the H/h both realize when they truly love the other. Those are precious moments and I love it when the author does it subtly. I am enjoying this series very much. So glad to hear there are at least 2 more stories. :)

Spoiler Alert Read at your own Risk
This was a really good book and I love reading Ms. James's books. Barrel racer Celia Lawson knows that rider Kyle Gilchrist is the love'em and leave'em type in other words he is a manwhore of the rodeo circuit. He is also her brother's best friend and they grew up together and they didn't get along as kids. After a night of drinking she wakes up in Vegas to find that she is married to the man when she insists on an annulment Kyle knows that he should say no but he can't he isn't ready to let her go. But then Kyle inherits a sprawling Wyoming ranch, and seizes the opportunity to enlist Celia’s help. She agrees to lend a hand—with two conditions: He has to get up to speed as a rancher within six months; then they’ll get a divorce. Celia is feisty, headstrong and vulnerable and Kyle is the fun loving sexy cowboy who we first met in the first book of this series Corralled. Kyle and Celia have to deal with the reactions of her overprotective brothers and the fact that Kyle had a sexual relationship with her sister in law, one that included a menage with her brother (strictly MFM menage, no sex between Kyle and Hank). This book also had some really funny scenes in it. This was a really good book it was well written like all of Ms. James's books the sex scenes in this book was hot. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I read One Night Rodeo basically at a marathon pase. Only reason I didn't finish the last 20% in that one sitting is because I couldn't sty awake anymore. This is quite possibly my favorite Lorelei James book.

What is there to say about Kyle, besides that is is the perfect character? He is not only tons of fun, but he is loving and beyond sweet. I absolutely loved the way he stood up to Celia's brothers for her. To go toe to toe with men that are your good friends was just amazing.

Celia is a wonderful woman. She hides her hurts from everyone, and has been doing so probably since her parents died. Her family has taken her for granted for years, and she feels all alone. But Kyle is so different with her now. Once the quit fighting each other they make a great pair.

I have to admit this one brought tears to my eyes a couple times, and there are some great laugh out loud moments!! I can't recommend this book and series enough!!!!! If you haven't started this series you should jump up and get them right now!!!!! :)

A well-written tale of characters coming to know themselves and each other better.

This was a fun read and would serve as a stand-alone although characters from the earlier books do appear. They have little real effect on the storyline.

The only thing I truly did not like was the clueless-ness of the protagonists. At times I wanted to grab them by their throats and yell, "Would you just talk to each other already!"

I downgraded this from my rating of an erotic romance (based on the author's other work) to that of a steamy romance. Threesomes are referred to but did not happen during the timeline of the plot. There is only a little light bondage and no anal involvement. I'd feel comfortable recommending this book to my mom who is 77. Well, on second thought, perhaps not.

This is a keeper.
