In an important order, the Gujarat High Court has directed the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to provide the Aadhaar card details of accused to investigating agencies probing a case of alleged Bangladeshi nationals. In 2022, BSF registered a complaint against an alleged Bangladeshi accused Akhtar Hussain Abdul Hussain at the Jakhau Police Station in Kutch under the Passport and Foreigners Act. Hussain allegedly entered India without a passport and visa and got an Aadhaar card made on the basis of bogus documents.
In another case, a complaint of fraud was filed against five accused in Vadodara in 2018. They had promised to deliver the complainant Saudi Arabian Riyals against Rs 15,000. The accused took the money but gave him blank notes in return with only the first two notes being genuine. A probe found that all the accused were Bangladeshis with Aadhaar cards based on fake documents. AM
