An EIT wave, which typically appears as a diffuse brightening that propagates across the solar disk, is one of the major discoveries of the Extreme ultraviolet Imaging Telescope on board the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. However, the physical nature of the so-called EIT wave continues to be debated. In order to understand the relationship between an EIT wave and its associated coronal wave front, we investigate the morphology and kinematics of the coronal mass ejection (CME)-EIT wave event that occurred on 2010 January 17. Using the observations of the SECCHI EUVI, COR1, and COR2 instruments on board the Solar Terrestrial Relations Observation-B, we track the shape and movements of the CME fronts along different radial directions to a distance of about 15 solar radii (R s ); for the EIT wave, we determine the propagation of the wave front on the solar surface along different propagating paths. The relation between the EIT wave speed, the CME speed, and the local fast-mode characteristic speed is also investigated. Our results demonstrate that the propagation of the CME front is much faster than that of the EIT wave on the solar surface, and that both the CME front and the EIT wave propagate faster than the fast-mode speed in their local environments. Specifically, we show a significant positive correlation between the EIT wave speed and the local fast-mode wave speed in the propagation paths of the EIT wave. Our findings support that the EIT wave under study is a fast-mode magnetohydrodynamic wave.

Bu çalışma, kare kapalı kutu içindeki ısıtılmış eğimli eliptik silindirin doğal taşınımla ısı geçişini inceleyebilmek için iki boyutlu sayısal olarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada kare kapalı kutunun yüzeyleri soğuk, eliptik silindir ise ortamın tek ısı kaynağıdır. Analiz yapılırken eliptik silindir için üç farklı eğim açısı (θ=0°, 45°, 90°), eliptik silindirin dört farklı en/boy oranı (b/a=0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0) ve dört farklı Rayleigh sayısı (Ra=104, 105, 106, 107) göz önünde bulundurulmuştur. Sistemde bulunan havanın termofiziksel özelliklerinin sabit olduğu ancak yoğunluğun Boussinesq yaklaşımı altında sıcaklıkla değiştiği ve akışkanın hareketinin yoğunluk farkından dolayı gerçekleştiği varsayılmıştır. Çözümlerden elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda eliptik silindir üzerinden hesaplanmış ortalama Nusselt sayısı grafiklerde verilmiştir. Ayrıca eş sıcaklık eğrileri ve akım çizgileri de sunulmuştur.  

We demonstrate a new image processing methodology for resolving gas bubbles travelling through liquid metal from dynamic neutron radiography images with an intrinsically low signal-to-noise ratio. Image pre-processing, denoising and bubble segmentation are described in detail, with practical recommendations. Experimental validation is presented—stationary and moving reference bodies with neutron-transparent cavities are radiographed with imaging conditions representative of the cases with bubbles in liquid metal. The new methods are applied to our experimental data from previous and recent imaging campaigns, and the performance of the methods proposed in this paper is compared against our previously achieved results. Neutron imaging offers unique capabilities not limited to the structural characterisation of materials, components and processes at a large variety of neutron sources and thus is highly qualified to be a prime candidate for instrumentation at compact neutron sources. The peculiar characteristics of neutrons, and in particular the cross sections for their interaction with matter enable imaging results that are directly comparable but, most notably, are effectively complementary to those of wide spread X-ray imaging characterisation. Here, it is highlighted how neutron imaging can significantly add to the value and the versatility of basically all and especially future compact neutron sources. In the course of discussing different target types for their suitability in the European Spallation Source (ESS) one main focus was on neutronics' performance. Diverse concepts have been assessed baselining some preliminary engineering and geometrical details and including some optimization. With the restrictions and resulting uncertainty imposed by the lack of detailed designs optimizations at the time of compiling this paper, the conclusion drawn is basically that there is a little difference in the neutronic yield of the investigated targets. Other criteria like safety, environmental compatibility, reliability and cost will thus dominate the choice of an ESS target.

A new type of ultra-cold neutron (UCN) source based on the spallation process is under construction at PSI. The essential elements are a pulsed proton beam with highest intensity (I p Z2 mA) and a low duty cycle (1%), a lead spallation target, a large D 2 O moderator and a solid deuterium (sD 2 ) converter system. Spallation neutrons are thermalized in the D 2 O, further cooled and partially downscattered into the ultra-cold neutron range in the sD 2 . The expected UCN density is higher than 1000 UCN=cm 3 in typical experiments, an increase of almost two orders of magnitude over the best source currently available (at ILL). The new UCN source is expected to come into operation in 2009.

Heavy ironbeam transport through the containment chamber plays a crucial role in all heavy ion &ion (HIF) scenarios. Here, several parameters are used to characterize the operating space for HIF beams; transport modes are assessed in relation to evolving targetiaccelerator requirements; results of recent relevant experiments and simulations of HIF transport are summarized; and relevant instabilities are reviewed. All transport options still exist, including (1) vacuum ballistic transport, (2) neutralized ballistic transport, and (3) channel-like transport. Presently, the European HIF program favors vacuum ballistic transport, while the U.S. HIF program favors neutralized ballistic transport with channel-like transport as an alternate approach. Further transport research is needed to clearly guide selection of the most attractive, integrated HIF system.

Background: Previously, we reported that Inauhzin (INZ) induces p53 activity and suppresses tumor growth by inhibiting Sirt1. However, it remains unknown whether INZ may globally affect p53-dependent gene expression or not. Herein, we have conducted microarray and real-time PCR analyses of gene expression to determine the global effect of INZ on human p53-responsive transcriptome. Methodology/Principal Findings: In this study, we conducted microarray analysis followed by PCR validation of general gene expression in HCT116 p53+/+ and HCT116 p532/2 cells treated with or without INZ. Microarray data showed that 324 genes were up-regulated by $2.3-fold and 266 genes were down-regulated by $2-fold in response to INZ treatment in a p53-dependent manner. GO analysis for these genes further revealed that INZ affects several biological processes, including apoptosis (GO:0006915), cell cycle (GO:0007049), immune system process (GO:0002376), and cell adhesion (GO:0007155), which are in line with p53 functions in cells. Also, pathway and STRING analyses of these genes indicated that the p53signaling pathway is the most significant pathway responsive to INZ treatment as predicted, since a number of these p53 target genes have been previously reported and some of them were validated by RT-qPCR. Finally, among the 9 tested and highly expressed genes, ACBD4, APOBEC3C, and FLJ14327 could be novel p53 target genes, for they were up-regulated by INZ in HCT116 p53+/+ cells, but not in HCT116 p532/2 cells. Conclusions/Significance: From our whole genome microarray analysis followed by validation with RT-qPCR, we found that INZ can indeed induce the expression of p53 target genes at a larger scale or globally. Our findings not only verify that INZ indeed activates the p53 signaling pathway, but also provide useful information for identifying novel INZ and/or p53 targets. The global effect of INZ on human p53-responsive transcriptome could also be instrumental to the future design of INZ clinical trials.

Strut and tie model sudah banyak diterapkan pada analisis dan desain dari setiap unsur struktur beton, baik sebagian maupun keseluruhan sistem. Dari berbagai metode yang dipergunakan, banyak kalangan beranggapan bahwa metode pendekatan seperti strut and tie model ini merupakan metode yang rasional dan konsisten dalam mengakomodasikan interaksi momen lentur, gaya aksial dan geser termasuk torsi. Perancangan struktur beton bertulang dengan strut and tie model membagi struktur dalam daerah D (discontinuity) dan B (beam), dan menggambarkan alur gaya (load path) sebagai transfer gaya yang terjadi pada struktur beton pada kondisi retak. Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan mendesain end block balok beton prategang, dengan jenis beban kerja yaitu beban mati dan beban hidup. Tulangan end block diperoleh dari pemodelan strut dan tie melalui bentuk rangka batang yang sesuai, dan kemudian diverifikasi dengan metode analisis elastis linier. Dari analisis yang telah dilakukan, metode strut and tie menghasilkan nilai gaya tarik sebesar 65,458 kN, sedangkan metode analisis elastis linier menghasilkan nilai gaya tarik sebesar 51,835 kN. Perbedaan nilai gaya tarik kedua metode tersebut sebesar 20,81 %. Gaya tarik yang dihasilkan akan menentukan jumlah tulangan tarik yang dibutuhkan end block balok. Metode strut and tie menghasilkan jumlah tulangan yang digunakan 5D10, sedangkan metode analisis elastis linier menggunakan tulangan sebanyak 4D10. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa metode analisis elastis linier menghasilkan desain yang lebih ekonomis daripada metode strut and tie. Metode analisis elastis linier dapat mereduksi jumlah tulangan tarik sekitar 20 %.

Penarukan Village in Buleleng Regency is confronted with issues of slum settlements, notably in the Satria neighborhood. The emergence of slum settlements in the Satria area is attributed to an inadequate drainage system. In response to this challenge, strategic planning and intervention are essential to optimize functionality in accordance with Minimum Service Standards (MSS). This aims to accommodate normal water flow, particularly during the rainy season, preventing waterlogging or flooding. The research is conducted to address the problem of inadequate drainage caused by blockages from waste, numerous holes in residents' yards, soil accumulation, clogging from kitchen and grass waste, and even structural damage. These factors contribute to the existence of slum settlements in the Satria community of Penarukan Village. The proposed intervention of strategy involves measures such as the installation of U-shaped ditches and infiltration wells, with a 5-meter gap between the first and second infiltration wells. The research methodology employs a descriptive-qualitative approach based on literature reviews and on-site observations. The qualitative method is used to collect, process, and analyze data obtained from literature reviews, interviews, and field observations. This study aims to provide valuable insights and practical solutions to enhance the drainage infrastructure, ultimately contributing to improved living conditions and the reduction of slum settlements in the Satria community of Penarukan Village..

The purpose of this research was to find out the perception of economic students to banking syari'a as syariá finance institution. The population of this research was the economic student of syiah kuala university level 2003-2007 amounted to 2267 person in three pieces that is accounting department, management department and developed economic department. Lifestyle changes can negatively affect premenstrual symptoms. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of changes in the lifestyle of students on premenstrual symptoms and their relationship with their quality of life during the global epidemic process. The research that was planned with a descriptive and correlational pattern was conducted who receive education in the Faculty of Health Sciences in the structure of a public university in İstanbul. The sample of the study consisted of 336 female students. "The Personal Information Form", "the Scale of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMSS)", "the Scale of Life Quality Short Form -SF-36" was implemented upon the students that were included in the study. The total PMSS score of the students participating in the study was 147.12±37.41. It was determined that 32.4% of the students had Covid-19 infection. When the total mean scores of PMSS were evaluated according to the lifestyle behaviors of the students; It was determined that PMSS total score differed significantly according to appetite status, exercise, tea and coffee consumption and sleep patterns. According to the results of the study, it was determined that nutritional behaviors, physical activity status, sleep and stress levels changed greatly with the COVID-19 epidemic and it affected PMS. It was determined that this situation affected the quality of life negatively both physically and mentally.

Aim: This study was conducted out to determine the attitudes of midwives working in a public hospital towards technology and the factors affecting it. Materials and Methods: The sample of the study, which was conducted in a descriptive design, consisted of 112 midwives actively working in a public hospital (Participation Rate: 82%). The data were collected with the "Personal Information Form" and the "Attitudes Towards Technology Scale (ATTS)". Results: It was determined that the average age of the midwives participating in the study was 27.14±4.95 (min: 21, max: 48) and 76.8% of the participants were undergraduate graduates. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rice husk ash and ash rice straw against physical and mechanical characteristics of the bricks, and also to determine the minimal burning time in the manufacture of clay bricks with additional ingredients such waste to achieve physical and mechanical characteristics bricks in accordance with standard bricks. The research was purposed to find out the minimum thickness of the paving blocks with slag material and fly ash added according to the compressive strength by SNI 03-0691-1996. The research made 7 variations of thickness with 2 variations of fly ash addition. The first paving block mix proportion was 1 pc: 6 ps: 3t : fly ash 5% with variation of the thickness of 7 cm, 6 cm, 5 cm, 4 cm, 3 cm and 2 cm. The second paving block mix proportion was 1 pc: 6 ps: 3t : 10% fly ash with thickness variation 7 cm, 6 cm, 5 cm, 4 cm, 3 cm and 2 cm. The paving block was made of Portland Cements Type I with watercement factor approaching 0.5 and tested until the paving block was 28 days old. The applicable minimum thickness of paving blocks was 5 cm with 10% of fly ash which has average compressive strength about 9.861 M.pa. The thickness of paving block (5 cm) belonging of D-class quality and made to be used for making a park.

Metode yang di gunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen, yaitu mengadakan suatu percobaan untuk mendapatkan suatu hasil yang menegaskan hubungan antara variabel-variabel yang di selidiki. Variabel yang mempengaruhi langsung dalam penelitian ini adalah Variabel bebas dan variabel terikat. Variabel bebas adalah variasi terak yang digunakan sebagai pengganti agregat kasar yaitu dengan variasi prosentase sebesar 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 60%, 80% dan 100% dengan rencana campuran menggunakan Mix Design berdasarkan pada SK SNI 03-2847-2002, sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah berat jenis dan kuat tekan beton. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat di peroleh prosentase penggantian terak yang optimal sebesar 39,986 % dengan kekuatan tekan maksimal sebesar 22,626 MPa. Pengaruh terak sebagai pengganti agregat kasar berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kuat tekan beton. Dimana dapat dilihat pada hasil analisis regresi dengan Curve Estimation model Linier, Quadratic diperoleh nilai probabilitas 0,001 (< 0,05) pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Penggantian terak sebagai pengganti agregat kasar berpengaruh sangat kuat terhadap berat jenis beton. Pada hasil uji berat jenis menunjukkan bahwa semakin banyak penggunaan terak, mengakibatkan semakin tinggi nilai berat jenis beton. Variasi terak sebagai pengganti agregat kasar menghasilkan berat jenis beton normal pada prosentase 0%, 10%, 20%, sedangkan pada prosentase 30%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% menghasilkan berat jenis yang tidak masuk dalam kriteria berat jenis beton normal (> 2400kg/m³). Berat jenis beton normal 2300 kg/m³ -2400 kg/m³ (Tjokrodimuljo, 2004). Simpulan penelitian ini adalah variasi terak sebagai pengganti agregat kasar berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kuat tekan beton dan berpengaruh sangat kuat terhadap berat jenis beton sehingga dapat digunakan dalam struktur bangunan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) Merancang kembali Gedung PTK menggunakan Analisis program komputer SAP2000, dan (2) Mengetahui Apakah Beton terak dengan prosentase penggantian terak 60% terhadap agregat kasar dengan berat jenis 2454 kg/m 3 dan fc' 20 MPa dapat digunakan pada perencanaan bangunan tahan gempa. Dalam perencanaan ini, analisa dan perhitungannya mengacu pada SNI 03-2847-2002 dan SNI 03-1726-2002 untuk perhitungan gempanya, sedangkan software yang digunakan adalah SAP 2000v14. Sistem struktur yang digunakan adalah sistem Open Frame, bangunan dirancang berdiri pada wilayah gempa 3 dan diasumsikan berada diatas tanah keras, menurut SNI 03-1726-2002. Analisa yang dilakukan adalah statik ekuivalen, dimana pengaruh gempa rencana terhadap struktur gedung dianggap sebagai beban statik yang menangkap pada pusat massa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ReDesain Gedung PTK didapatkan dimensi kolom 60 cm x 60 cm dengan 21 baja tulangan yang berdiameter 29 mm pada setiap titik kolom untuk tulangan longitudinal dan baja tulangan berdiameter 12 mm pada setiap jarak 80 mm untuk tulangan gesernya, dan dimensi balok 40 cm x 60 cm dengan 8 baja tulangan untuk tulangan longitudinal tumpuan dan 6 baja tulangan untuk tulangan longitudinal lapangan, dengan tulangan geser pada setiap jarak 100 mm. Hal ini membuat perilaku struktur lebih kuat untuk menahan gaya gempa. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa beton terak dapat digunakan untuk merancang bangunan tahan gempa dengan ReDesain gedung PTK FKIP UNS dilihat dari berat jenisnya karena memenuhi persyaratan sesuai dengan SNI 03-1726-2002.

Beton merupakan suatu bahan bangunan campuran dari bahan-bahan penyusunnya yaitu agregat kasar (kerikil), agregat halus (pasir), semen, air yang biasanya juga ditambah dengan bahan tambah (admixture atau additive) yang nantinya akan mengalami reaksi kimia dan mengalami pengerasan. Pentingnya penggunaan beton pada bangunan memicu adanya pengganti bahan-bahan penyusun beton salah satunya agregat kasar. Dengan adanya terak hasil limbah pengecoran logam diharapkan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pengganti agregat kasar karena ketersediaannya yang melimpah dan belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh terak sebagai pengganti sebagian agregat kasar terhadap kuat lentur dan berat jenis pada beton normal dengan variasi penggantian terak 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% dan 100%. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang lakukan secara eksperimen dengan metode perbandingan berat 1 semen : 2 pasir : 3 kerikil. Benda uji yang digunakan berbentuk balok dengan dimensi 15 x 15 x 60 cm. Uji yang diterapkan pada benda uji adalah uji kuat lentur dengan menggunakan 2 titik beban dengan jarak 1/3 L. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh hasil ada pengaruh yang kuat dari penggunaan terak sebagai pengganti sebagian agregat kasar pada beton, pengaruh ini bersifat negatif yang menyebabkan kuat lentur beton semakin menurun. Penggantian terak sebagai pengganti sebagian agregat kasar berpengaruh dengan taraf sedang terhadap berat jenis beton. Pengaruh ini bersifat positif yang menyebabkan berat jenis terjadi peningkatan dan dari semua variasi penggantian terak beton yang telah diuji memenuhi syarat berat jenis beton normal yaitu 2200 kg/m³ -2500 kg/m³. ( SNI 03-2847( SNI 03- -2002)). Simpulan penelitian ini adalah variasi penggantian terak sebagai pengganti sebagian agregat kasar pada beton berpengaruh negatif dengan taraf kuat terhadap kuat lentur beton dan berpengaruh positif dengan taraf sedang terhadap berat jenis beton.

The design of earthquake resistant buildings is needed in Indonesia , because the area of earthquake seismic intensity low to high seismic region. Concrete is a material that has a lot of advantages in building area. Innovative use of slag materials as concrete mix is to reduce waste foundry that can be used as a partial replacement of aggregate in concrete mix. Methods This study used quantitative designing JPTK's building eartquake resistant research refers to rules SNI Earthquake 2002 (03-1726-2002), as the calculation of earthquake loading and SNI 03-2847-2002 Building Structure Calculations. The analysis of JPTK building adding slag materials as an aggregate substitute. Redesign results obtained demonstrate the using of the slag material in the JPTK building. The difference can be found in the diameter columns and many reinforcements. The old building using 12 reinforcements with diameter of 22 mm, mean while the new building newly used 14 reinforcement with 25 mm .

This paper describes the instrumentation of, and the first results from, an upper atmospheric observation project conducted in New Zealand. We operate an all-sky aurora camera and a 64-Hz sampling induction magnetometer at Middlemarch, as well as 1-Hz sampling fluxgate magnetometers which have been operative at three stations in New Zealand, Middlemarch, Eyrewell and Te Wharau. Green and red auroras respectively corresponding to the 557.7 nm and 630.0 nm emissions were observed on the night of 5 Aug 2019. Pc1 pulsations were observed in the frequency range of ~0.2-1 Hz before and after a small (minimum Dst = -40 nT) geomagnetic storm during 4-6 October 2020. Before the geomagnetic storm, Pc1 pulsations with several center frequencies were observed regardless of local time. During the recovery phase, an IPDP (interval of pulsations of diminishing period) type of Pc1 and subsequent four intervals Pc1s were detected. The Ionospheric Alfvén Resonator (IAR) was also identified with spectral resonance structures during this magnetic storm. Lower harmonic modes of IAR were present throughout the local nighttime, but higher harmonic modes with frequency of 5-15 Hz seemed to disappear at the onset time of substorms. This is the first report of IAR at such a high frequency range and this is the first IAR observation in the southern hemisphere. Examples of applying cross-phase analysis to observation data of fluxgate magnetometers are also given.

In this paper, a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system with 64 modulated channels 50 GHz spacing covering 25.2-nm bandwidth has been demonstrated. When optical signals are to travel over long distances, it's be faded and spread out. So, it is necessary to strengthen the signal at intervals. To keep the signal strength at same level in the DWMD system, Er-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) has been used. The EDFA provides a gain across the bandwidth with 10 dB average gain and a gain shape variation peak-to-peak of about 1 dB. OptSim's physical EDFA model has been used for DWMD systems.

In 1977 Korchinski presented a new type of shock discontinuity in conservation laws. These singular solutions were coined δ-shocks since there is a time dependent Dirac delta involved. A naive description is that such δ-shock is of the overcompressive type: a two-family shock wave the four characteristic lines of which impinge into the shock itself. In this work, we open the fan of solutions by studying two-family waves without intermediate constant states but, possessing central rarefactions and also comprising δ-shocks.

We consider the problem of multiparticle production at threshold in a φ 4 -theory with an O(N 1 +N 2 ) symmetry softly broken down to O(N 1 ) × O(N 2 ) by nonequal masses. We derive the set of recurrence relations between the multiparticle amplitudes which sums all relevant diagrams with arbitrary number of loops in the large-N limit with fixed number of produced particles. We transform it into a quantum mechanical problem and show how it can be obtained directly from the operator equations of motion by applying the factorization at large N . We find the exact solutions to the problem by using the Gelfand-Dikiȋ representation of the diagonal resolvent of the Schrödinger operator. The result coincides with the tree amplitudes while the effect of loops is the renormalization of the coupling constant and masses. The form of the solution is due to the fact that the exact amplitude of the process 2→n vanishes at n>2 on mass shell when averaged over the O(N 1,2 )-indices of incoming particles. We discuss what dynamical symmetry is behind this property. We also give an exact solution in the large-N limit for the model of the O(N )+singlet scalar particle with the spontaneous breaking of a reflection symmetry.

We construct Arnol'd cat map lattice field theories in phase space and configuration space. In phase space we impose that the evolution operator of the linearly coupled maps be an element of the symplectic group, in direct generalization of the case of one map. To this end we exploit the correspondence between the cat map and the Fibonacci sequence. The chaotic properties of these systems also can be understood from the equations of motion in configuration space. These describe inverted harmonic oscillators, where the runaway behavior of the potential competes with the toroidal compactification of the phase space. We highlight the spatiotemporal chaotic properties of these systems using standard benchmarks for probing deterministic chaos of dynamical systems, namely, the complete dense set of unstable periodic orbits, which, for long periods, lead to ergodicity and mixing. The spectrum of the periods exhibits a strong dependence on the strength and the range of the interaction.

This study assesses the relative importance of time integration error in present-day climate simulations conducted with the atmosphere component of the Energy Exascale Earth System Model version 1 (EAMv1) at 1 • horizontal resolution. In this study, design calculations and calculations of afterburner used in jet engines are presented by evaluating the results of analytical and computational analysis. Afterburner inlet values of 1050 K temperature, 300 kPa pressure and 3.6 kg/s mass flow rate are taken as the design conditions. Maximum length and diameter are 500 mm and 200 mm, respectively, for the sections to be designed as length constraints within the scope of the conceptual design. The tworing vee-gutter has 1.33 cm in diameter and 4.25 cm high. Jet A fuel is assumed to be injected into the core flow (90 degrees) from the spray bars. The spray is mounted in line with the veegutter to optimize the mixing of the flow. Analyses are performed for 4 cm between the spray bar and the vee-gutter. For the study, the GE J79 engine was examined from the literature and taken as a basis for the aerodynamic transition section design. Within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2023 Jet Engine Design Competition, a preliminary design of an afterburner module that can produce 700 pounds of thrust and has a life capacity of 25 hours should be realized in line with the design requirements and constraints. In the light of geometric constraints, one-dimensional combustion calculations of the module are made, and the parts are modelled using the relevant SolidWorks CAD program and these modelled parts are then transferred to ANSYS™ environment and the results and analyses are verified. The afterburner module flow analysis software program ANSYS™ is used to analyse the afterburner operation in both cold operating ranges (i.e. without combustion) using compressible, viscous and standard k-epsilon turbulence model. As a result, the effect of afterburner length on combustion performance is found to be significant. As a result of the calculations, afterburner length is found as 28.14 cm. It is found that the combustion efficiency is 81.5% and the temperature can be increased from 1050 K to 2044 K. The total pressure loss is 14.96% as pressure drop due to the geometric parameters and heat addition. The blockage ratio calculated due to the use of vee-gutter geometry is the most important parameter in the pressure drop. It is found that the jet engine producing 670 lbs (2981 N) of thrust when the afterburner is not working whereas it can provide a significant amount of power increment at the expense of a 50% increase in specific fuel consumption when the afterburner is active as well as providing a 738 lbs (3238 N) with a 10.1% thrust increase. The reason of the enhancement is mainly coming from the mixing effect of the vee-gutter on the flow structure.

The increase in the number of people in the world, coupled with the concentration of populations in cities, has resulted in problems such as increased waste production and, consequently, diseases related to environmental pollution. The growing scale of production of municipal solid wastes (MSWs), associated with increased consumption, and the improper disposal of such waste, make it imperative to improve levels of awareness, and encourage the segregation and correct elimination of such waste, in order to minimize the hazards. Thus, this study aimed to discuss, in the school, the issues related to MSWs, including the production, storage, reuse, and proper disposal of these materials in order to provide environmental preservation, protection of health, and enhanced social conditions. The extension activities described in this work were conducted in 2012 at the Centro de Ensino Mourão Rangel, located in the city of Imperatriz (Maranhão). Interaction with the students employed educational games, paradidactic material, lectures, and discussions, in order to promote the exchange of knowledge through an open conversation among those involved. From the results obtained, it was observed that there was an effective participation of students, teachers, and school management during the execution of the entire extension activity, demonstrating the interest shown in the theme. It could be concluded that this activity definitely helped to increase the range of information available on environmental issues, with emphasis on MSWs, as well as improve the level of critical thinking concerning the conservation of natural resources. It is important to emphasize the need to maintain a dialogue between the university and schools in order to disseminate vital information that can be of benefit to the community.

Neutron emission from a deuterium plasma pinch generated in a very small plasma focus (6 mm anode diameter) operating at only tens of joules is presented. A maximum current of 50 kA is achieved 140 ns after the beginning of the discharge, when the device is charged at 50 J (160 nF capacitor bank, 38 nH, 20-30 kV, 32-72 J). Although the stored energy is very low, the estimated energy density in the plasma and the energy per particle in the plasma are of the same order as in higher energy devices. The dependence of the neutron yield on the filling pressure of deuterium was obtained for discharges with 50 and 67 J stored in the capacitor bank. Neutrons were measured by means of a system based on a 3 He proportional counter in current mode. The average neutron yield for 50 J discharges at 6 mbar was (1.2 ± 0.5) × 10 4 neutrons per shot, and (3.6 ± 1.6) × 10 4 for 67 J discharges at 9 mbar. The maximum energy of the neutrons was (2.7 ± 1.8) MeV. Possible applications related to substance detection and others are discussed.

Selain itu, pendapatan yang diterima dari hasil tangkapan ikan tidak sepenuhnya mampu memenuhi kebutuhan ekonomini keluargannya. Adanya banyak factor yang bisa menyebabkan pendapatan nelayan seperti factor modal, alat tangkap, lama melaut dan factor lainnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pendapatan nelayan tangkap pancing Rawai di Kelurahan Sumpang Binagae di Kecamatan Barru. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskritif kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 46 kepala keluarga nelayan di Kelurahan Sumpang Binangae. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, dokumentasi, wawancara dan kuesioner sedangkan Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regeresi berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa besar-kecilnya pendapatan nelayan yang menggunakan alat tangkap pancing secara nyata dan signifikan dipengaruhi oleh variabel modal kerja, alat tangkap pancing, lama melaut dan pengalaman sedangkan variabel tanggungan keluarga, pendidikan dan umur tidak berpengaruh nyata secara signifikan terhadap pendapatan nelayan. pendapatan nelayan tangkap pancing rawai memiliki tingkat pendapatan yang cukup baik disebabkan jenis tangkapan ikannya memiliki nilai ekonomis atau harga jual yang lebih tinggi.

We design an exact output tracking control law for a four degree of freedom spherical inverted pendulum based on the nonlinear stable inversion tool proposed by Devasia, Chen and Paden. The pendulum is a slim cylindrical beam attached to a horizontal plane via a universal joint; the joint is free to move in the plane under the influence of a planar force. The upright position is an unstable equilibrium of the uncontrolled system because of gravity. The objective is to design a controller so that the pendulum can be steered to track some smooth desired translational trajectories while keeping the pendulum tightly around the upright position. The design proceeds in three steps: 1) identification of the internal dynamics; 2) feedforward control design for achievable trajectories; 3) feedback design to stabilize the achievable trajectories. The computer simulations show that the proposed controller can deliver excellent tracking performance.

Jenis rumah di daerah pegunungan dilihat dari material dindingnya terdiri dari beberapa material diantaranya adalah dinding batu. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang melihat seberapa besar perubahan suhu udara ruang luar dengan suhu udara ruang dalam untuk jenis rumah tinggal berdinding batu. Obyek penelitian dilakukan pada 5 rumah tinggal di daerah pegunungan. Alat pengukur suhu udara dan kelembaban udara diletakkan pada ruang luar (teras depan) serta pada ruang dalam (ruang tamu, ruang keluarga, dapur, kamar tidur, kamar mandi, musholla, toko, ruang makan, dan gudang). Penelitian dilakukan selama 1 hari penuh mulai pukul 07.00 WIB sampai pukul 18.00 WIB. Hasil penelitian didapat bahwa sebagian besar ruang dalam (lebih dari 75% ruang yang diteliti) mempunyai suhu udara yang lebih rendah dibandingkan ruang luar. Hanya sebagian kecil ruang saja yang mempunyai suhu udara yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan ruang luar.

Interplay of directional and isotropic interactions in self-assembly DEBRA AUDUS, National Institute of Standards and Technology, FRANCIS STARR, Wesleyan University, JACK DOUGLAS, National Institute of Standards and Technology -Patchy particle models, composed of hard spheres with decorated with attractive patches, have been introduced as models of micron-sized particles with anisotropic interactions, as well as solutions of globular proteins. Here, we extend the canonical model of the patchy particles to include a short-ranged isotropic interaction in order to probe of the coupling of the directional and isotropic interactions on the self-assembly process. In particular, we evaluate basic properties characterizing self-assembly including average cluster mass and the fraction of particles in the clustered state using both Monte Carlo simulation and analytic Wertheim theory. This combination allows for validation of the theory and for insight into analyzing experimental data. We also find that Flory-Stockmayer theory describes the cluster size distribution data found in our simulations remarkably well, despite its erroneous mass-scaling exponent. This result, coupled with Wertheim theory, predicts both a master curve for the average cluster mass and a method to parameterize patchy particle models using experimental data.

The computational prediction of the properties of polymeric materials to serve the needs of materials design and prediction of their performance is a grand challenge due to the prohibitive computational times of all-atomistic (AA) simulations. Coarsegrained (CG) modeling is an essential strategy for making progress on this problem. While there has been intense activity in this area, effective methods of coarsegraining have been slow to develop. Our approach to this fundamental problem starts from the observation that integrating out degrees of freedom of the AA model leads to a strong modification of the configurational entropy and cohesive interaction. Based on this observation, we propose a temperature-dependent systematic renormalization of the cohesive interaction in the CG modeling to recover the thermodynamic modifications in the system and the dynamics of the AA model. Here, we show that this energy renormalization approach to CG can faithfully estimate the diffusive, segmental and glassy dynamics of the AA model over a large temperature range spanning from the Arrhenius melt to the non-equilibrium glassy states. Our proposed CG strategy offers a promising strategy for developing thermodynamically consistent CG models with temperature transferability.

Laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) is a well-known and versatile approach for the noninvasive visualization of flows and microcirculation localized in turbid scattering media, including biological tissues. In most conventional implementations of LSCI the ergodic regime is typically assumed valid. However, most composite turbid scattering media, especially biological tissues, are non-ergodic, containing a mixture of dynamic and static centers of light scattering. In the current study, we examined the speckle contrast in different dynamic conditions with the aim of assessing limitations in the quantitative interpretation of speckle contrast images. Based on a simple phenomenological approach, we introduced a coefficient of speckle dynamics to quantitatively assess the ratio of the dynamic part of a scattering medium to the static one. The introduced coefficient allows one to distinguish real changes in motion from the mere appearance of static components in the field of view. As examples of systems with static/dynamic transitions, thawing and heating of Intralipid samples were studied by the LSCI approach.
