A day dedicated to the ‘Father of the Nation’,
Gandhi Jayanti is the celebration of the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as
Mahatma Gandhi. He was born in 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat, and this year marks his 155th birth anniversary.
As a mark of respect to the leader, the nation commemorates this day by putting garlands on Gandhi’s statues as a mark of respect.
Even prayer meetings are held at Gandhi’s memorial in New Delhi, Raj Ghat. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Kundali Bhagya actress Shalini Mahal shared her thoughts on the sacrifices made by ‘Bapu’ for the freedom of our country.
Shalini Mahal, who essays the role of Shanaya in Kundali Bhagya said, “Gandhi Ji’s principle of truth and non-violence have always been a source of inspiration for me, not just as an individual but as an actor as well. His belief that 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind' resonates with me deeply.”
She further said, “In today’s world, where there is so much of conflict, his message of resolving issues with love and peace is more relevant than ever. Change begins with us, we can all make the world a better place by incorporating even a fraction of Bapu’s teachings into our daily routine. On this Gandhi Jayanti, let's reflect on his message of compassion and unity and strive to live in harmony with one another, remembering that true strength lies in forgiveness and understanding.”
