Usually, the requests would come for AmitJi. We used to get a million postcards in a week. When Rupert Murdoch came to India, he said, because of our show, the Indian Government had decided to pass a law that requests shouldn't be sent by postcards as it was very cheap back then so then they had to send the request through the actual card so that the government would also make money.

I used to stay in Churchgate, there used to be a MLA hostel and there was a canteen below that, they used to give lunch for Rs 2. There would be dal like water for Re 1 and chapatis for 10 paisa. I would buy 10 chapatis, they used to be thin like paper, so I used to buy dal and chapati for 2 rupees as my lunch.
