Tesla CEO and owner of X
Elon Musk recently posted a conversation he had with Grok, an AI chatbot developed by his company xAI. The CEO asked Grok about the size of the Chinese economy compared to the United States and Europe. Elon Musk’s exact question to the AI bot was “What is the size of the Chinese economy in purchasing power parity compared with the United States and Europe?”. In response, Grok stated that in 2025, China's GDP based on purchasing power parity (PPP) is estimated at approximately $35.29 trillion, surpassing the United States’ estimated GDP of $28.78 trillion. The European Union's (EU27) GDP in PPP terms is projected at around $21.99 trillion.
According to Grok, this means China's economy is about 1.23 times larger than the U.S. economy and about 1.60 times larger than the EU's economy when measured by PPP. T
Sharing the exchange on X (formerly Twitter), Musk captioned the post: "This comes as a surprise to most people."
Elon Musk’s brother replies to the post

“Yes. This means that your money goes further in China than America. Eg a Big Mac costs you less.
But it also means that the government’s money goes further. They can provide healthcare and a social security net for less and… they can outfit their military for less.
When we think about America vs China we are actually a smaller economy than them militarily speaking.”
