“How Much Time Do You Have?” Jalen Milroe’s honest yet witty reply on where he needs to improve

Jalen Milroe’s candid self-assessment during NFL interviews caught attention, as he confidently addressed his weaknesses. His honesty, paired with a no-nonsense approach, could fast-track his development in Seattle. Starting as QB3, Milroe’s athleticism and self-awareness may lead to a role similar to Taysom Hill, positioning him as a potential future star for the Seahawks.

The 2025 NFL Draft saw plenty of high-stakes moves, but one of the more intriguing selections came quietly in the third round. The Seattle Seahawks picked up Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and while he wasn’t a headline-stealing first-rounder, his mindset and maturity may have positioned him as one of the true sleeper gems of the class.

Jalen Milroe’s honest approach sets him apart in QB room

Milroe is entering a stable quarterback room led by veteran Sam Darnold, with Drew Lock slated as the backup. There’s no rush, and that’s a good thing. What makes Milroe stand out isn’t just his dual-threat athleticism, but his surprising level of self-awareness, something that caught NFL scouts off guard in the best possible way.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter, Milroe had perhaps the most memorable interview moment of any quarterback in the draft class. When teams asked him what areas of his game needed work, Milroe didn’t dodge the question, inflate his strengths, or spin the narrative. Instead, he leaned back and said, “How much time do you have?”
It showed NFL front offices that this kid wasn’t walking in with delusions of grandeur. He knows he’s raw. He knows there’s work to be done. And he’s not afraid to say it out loud. That kind of honesty, especially from a quarterback prospect, is rare.
“We’re sitting there interviewing Jalen Milroe and he’s telling us all the areas that he’s working on right now,” Carpenter reported.

Milroe’s honesty could make him Seattle’s next star

Milroe even addressed the obvious concern that he was worried that being so upfront might hurt his draft stock? His answer was “Absolutely not”. In fact, he flipped the narrative. “You should be concerned with any guy that comes in this room, who hasn’t played a down of NFL football and doesn’t tell you that he has weaknesses or that he isn’t working on them. Plus it’s an insult because that means he doesn’t think you know how to watch film,” Milroe reportedly told one team.
Milroe may be starting out as QB3 in Seattle, but don’t be surprised if he climbs the ranks faster than expected. The Seahawks are already rumored to be crafting a package of plays to utilize his elite athleticism, possibly hinting at a Taysom Hill-style role early on.

He’s not perfect and he knows it. But in today’s NFL, where ego often outweighs growth, Milroe’s humble, no-nonsense approach could be the edge that turns him from third-round flier to future franchise face.
