Having had a stunning record in the American League East, the New York Yankees have managed to secure a worthy record of 18 wins and 13 losses. Now, amid a heated baseball season, a new controversy has stirred up, with St. Louis Cardinals’ ace Nolan Arenado being up for trade, but will the New York Yankees sign him? MLB insider weighs in.
Yankees’ stunning performance could get Nolan Arenado on board
While having had terrific players like Max Fried and Paul Goldschmidt, on their side of the field, young players like Ben Rice and Jasson Domínguez have also stepped up amidst a heated baseball season. With stunning performances from each player, the team has moved on from their heartbreak left by Juan Soto, who quit to join the New York Mets. Now, things seem to fall into place. However, baseball expert Andy Martino has now pointed out that there is something left to be done, while Yankees have some concerns left to be addressed.
In an article published in SNY, Andy Martino suggests:
While it is well noted the New York Yankees have had a problem with the third base, and this one issue, has now has led them to talk about a possible trade for star player Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals.
Experts suggest that the Cardinals could possibly be open to trading him because they are interested in building a much younger team.
Martino, in his article, suggests that the team is looking for a right-handed addition.
“As for Arenado, the next time that the Yankees are interested will be the first time."
But why Nolan Arenado has been caught in the storm?
It is well noted that Nolan Arenado has had a pretty solid season and is one of the best baseball players. Now, if the St. Louis Cardinals don’t perform well, it would put them in a difficult spot. However, it won’t be easy trading Arenado, as he has a special part in his contract which is a no-trade clause, and that means he can say no to any trade he doesn’t like.
Hence, in a situation, if even the team wants to trade him, they can only do it if he agrees to the move. Now, this move shows how valuable he is and how contracts can make trades more complicated in today’s game.
