Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman and his wife
Saira Banu are separating after nearly three decades of marriage, their lawyer Vandana Shah confirmed on Tuesday. The couple cited "significant emotional strain" as the reason for their decision.
In a heartfelt post on social media,
Rahman shared his feelings about the separation. He tweeted, "We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter."
The musician's use of the hashtag 'arrsairaabreakup' has since raised eyebrows, with some fans asking the star to edit his post and remove the tag.
