Navi Mumbai: Taloja police probing the case of accidental death report of a 30-year-old woman who allegedly smothered her 4-year-old daughter and then died by suicide at her flat on April 24, have registered an FIR of abetment of suicide against six accused including her husband, mother-in-law and sisters-in law on May 1.
The FIR has been registered after the deceased woman Sonam Keni's father Dnyaneshwar Patil (65), a transporter residing in Panvel lodged a complaint alleging that the accused were physically and mentally harassing his daughter Sonam as she was not conceiving a male child, informed the police.
The accused have been identified as the victim's husband Abhishek Keni (36), mother-in-law Prabhawati Keni (65) and other in-laws identified as Harshala Patil (45), Vaishali Patil (42), Archana Gharat (40) and Rupali Mali (38).
A police source informed that, a five- page suicide note was found at the flat wherein the deceased woman has mentioned being harassment by her husband and in-laws. But, the note does not mention that she was being harassed for not conceiving a male child. Pravin Bhagat, senior inspector of Taloja said, "The six accused are absconding after learning that an FIR has been registered against them. Once traced, they will be arrested."
