Lucknow: In a late-night administrative reshuffle on Monday, the Uttar Pradesh govt transferred three senior IPS officers, including ADG, Prayagraj zone,
Bhanu Bhaskar, who was shifted to Meerut in the same capacity.
Bhaskar, a 1996-batch IPS officer, is credited with overseeing the security arrangements for the 2025 Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj earlier this year. His responsibilities spanned law and order, crowd and traffic management, cybercrime monitoring, disaster response, medical aid, fire safety, and coordination through the central control room. Following the seamless execution of the event, he has now been entrusted with the crucial Meerut zone.
During his Prayagraj tenure, Bhaskar led several SIT probes into heinous crimes and supervised anti-mafia operations across seven districts.
A former CBI officer, he earlier held the charge of the agency's anti-corruption headquarters and MDMA zones, handling high-profile cases including fodder scam and Bihar shelter home case.
Meanwhile, ADG, Meerut, DK Thakur has been appointed ADG of Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) in Lucknow, and home secretary Sanjiv Gupta has been posted as ADG, Prayagraj zone.
Last week, IG, Prayagraj range, PK Gautam was transferred to ATS in Lucknow, while Ghaziabad police commissioner Ajay Mishra was made IG, Prayagraj range.
