NEW DELHI: In Uluberia, there was a triangular contest between BJP's Arunuday Paulchowdhury, Congress's Azahar Mollick and TMC's Sajda Ahmed. ECI show that TMC's Sajda Ahmed has won in the constitency.

The Uluberia Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on May 20, during the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, joining other constituencies in West Bengal. The polling percentage of 79.78 was amongst the highest in the country.

In the 2019 parliamentary elections, the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) candidate secured a decisive victory with Sajda Ahmed winning 6,94,945 (53%), underlining the party's stronghold in the region. The runner up was BJP candidate Joy Banerjee winning 4,79,586 (36.58%). The constituency witnessed a substantial voter turnout of 81.18% in the previous elections.

The 2014 elections saw a similar trend with the AITC candidate Sultan Ahmed emerging victorious, reaffirming its dominance in Uluberia. Uluberia continues to wield significant influence in West Bengal's political narrative.

Demographically, Uluberia mirrors West Bengal's diverse mosaic, encompassing Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities. Hindus form the majority, followed by a significant Muslim population and a notable Christian minority. Uluberia has a substantial presence of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, contributing to its electoral dynamics.

The Uluberia Lok Sabha constituency comprises the assembly segments of Uluberia Purba, Uluberia Uttar, Uluberia Dakshin, Shyampur, Bagnan, and Amta.
