The downpour also claimed four lives in a house collapse incident in Najafgarh, prompting chief minister Rekha Gupta to issue an urgent call for infrastructural overhaul across the city.

There is a problem of waterlogging in many areas of Delhi. In some places, there are no drains; in others, the drains are clogged, and in some, the roads are damaged. Delhi is in a very bad state and needs urgent improvement. It is an alarming situation, and all departments and agencies must take today's rain as a warning to begin addressing areas prone to waterlogging. Delhi Weather Live: "All pumps working, operator alert", says Parvesh Verma ater morning inspection

"After record unseasonal rainfall triggered water stagnation at multiple spots, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma visited affected areas from 5:30 am, including Minto Bridge. “All four pumps were working, and the operator was alert,” he tweeted. Verma found a burst pipe and ordered immediate repairs. He assured that PWD, MCD, DJB, NDMC, and IFC are continuously cleaning drains in preparation for monsoon."

4 people were killed and one injured after a tree fell on a tubewell room built on the farm in Kharkhari Canal village in Dwarka, due to strong winds. The deceased are identified as 26-year-old Jyoti and her three children. Her husband, Ajay, has sustained minor injuries.

Delhi Rain Live: Heavy rain, strong winds and waterlogging disrupt daily life in Delhi; flight operations hit, IMD issues severe weather alert

Heavy rainfall hit several parts of Delhi early Friday, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions across the city. According to officials, flight operations at the Delhi Airport have been affected due to the adverse weather conditions.

In an advisory posted on X, the Delhi Airport stated, "Due to thunderstorms and bad weather in Delhi, some flights have been impacted. Our ground staff is working closely with all stakeholders to maintain a smooth passenger experience. Travelers are advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates."

Visuals from Khanpur showed vehicles struggling through knee-deep water, while other areas reported strong winds accompanying the downpour.

At DDU Marg, a commuter named Mukesh told ANI he was stuck in traffic since 5 a.m. while trying to reach his office in Laxmi Nagar. “The rain has cooled things down, but it’s delayed my travel. There was an accident here and traffic is badly affected,” he said. He added that Connaught Place flyover had waterlogging.

Delhi Rain Live Updates: At least four people were killed as a sudden weather change hit Delhi and surrounding NCR areas early Friday, bringing a dust storm, heavy rainfall, and thunderstorms that temporarily relieved the intense heat. The storm uprooted trees, caused traffic disruptions, and damaged property, particularly on Major Somnath Marg in RK Puram. Municipal teams are actively clearing debris to restore normalcy. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8°C, which is 2.1°C above the usual level. The IMD has predicted more thunderstorms and rain, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 37°C.
