Bhopal: The state assembly was adjourned for 10 minutes on Tuesday after paying homage to departed souls of former MLAs Vishnu Rajoria, who passed away on March 11, Devcharan Singh Madhukar, who passed on March 12, and Surendra Nath Singh, who died on March 12.
Soon as the House gathered for the Question Hour, Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar informed about the demise of the three former members of the state legislature.
Deputy CM Jagdish Dewda recalled that Vishnu Rajoria was born on March 27, 1941 in Harda. He was general secretary of the district Youth Congress from 1962 to 1970, senior vice president of the Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress and chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Industries Corporation from 1982 to 1985. Rajoria was elected as a Congress legislator from Harda in the 7th and 8th Legislative Assembly and was the minister for local govt, urban development, housing and environment department.
Madhukar was born on March 23, 1938 in Pachpedi, district Bilaspur. He was director of the Commercial Development Corporation and a member of the State Citizens' Rights Committee. Madhukar represented Malkharoda and Maturi regions respectively on behalf of the Congress in the 8th and 10th Legislative Assemblies of the country.
Surendra Nath Singh was born on Jan 1, 1963. He was a member of Parliament from 1994 to 2004 and chairman of Bhopal Development Authority from 2007 to 2014. He represented Bhopal Central seat as BJP MLA in the 14th Legislative Assembly.
On behalf of the Congress, former deputy speaker Rajendra Singh paid homage to the deceased leaders. House observed two-minutes silence as a mark of respect for the three departed souls.
