Amritsar temple attack: Key assailant killed in police encounter, one escapes

One of the assailants involved in the attack on Thakurdwara temple in Amritsar was killed during an encounter with Punjab police. The attack on the temple resulted in significant damage but no fatalities. The deceased was identified as Gursidak Singh, and his accomplice Vishal escaped. AMRITSAR: One of the assailants involved in the recent attack on the Thakurdwara temple at Khandwala in Amritsar was killed in an encounter with police on Monday.
Director General of Police, Punjab Gaurav Yadav, confirmed that the police successfully tracked down those responsible for the attack. During the pursuit, the accused opened fire, injuring Head Constable Gurpreet Singh and striking Inspector Amolak Singh’s turban.

In retaliation, he said , the police fired back, injuring one of the assailants, who was later taken to Civil Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. One of his accomplices managed to flee the scene.

Sources identified the deceased assailant as Gursidak Singh, a resident of Bal village. The accomplice who escaped is named Vishal, a resident of Rajasansi.
Notably, the attack on the temple occurred on the morning of March 15, when two motorcycle-borne assailants who were carrying a flag hurled abn exokisuve object at the first floor of Thakurdwara temple, causing significant damage to the building. The temple priest narrowly escaped the attack.
