    Synopsis

An Air India Express pilot, in his late 30s, tragically passed away in Delhi on Wednesday after operating a flight from Srinagar. An Air India Express pilot passed away due to a medical condition in the national capital on Wednesday soon after operating a flight from Srinagar, according to a PTI source. The pilot, in his late 30s, operated the flight from Srinagar to Delhi and was not feeling well after landing at the Delhi airport. He was taken to a hospital but passed away, the source told PTI.

"We deeply regret the loss of a valued colleague due to a medical condition... we are extending all possible assistance to them as we all cope with this tremendous loss," an airline spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.

Further details could not be ascertained.

"We request all concerned to respect privacy at this time and avoid unnecessary speculation while we commit to assisting the relevant authorities in due process," the spokesperson said.

Recently, Air India has found itself facing a similar situation. In the latest case, a business class passenger on a Delhi-to-Bangkok flight urinated on a fellow traveller mid-flight.

The incident occurred aboard an Air India Airbus A320 (Flight AI-2336) in the early hours of April 9, just before landing in Bangkok. According to The Times of India, the passenger had consumed alcohol—reportedly a common practice on this route—but was not excessively intoxicated.

The victim, seated in the front row of business class, was attended to by the cabin crew and chose not to press charges after receiving an apology from the offender. The crew relocated the accused to another seat in the aircraft, which was formerly operated by Vistara and featured a 2x2 business configuration.

In response, Air India imposed a 30-day flying ban on the passenger, pending review by an independent committee. The airline stated that it is adhering to standard procedures as outlined by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
