Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 10:04AM

Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(up 0.75%) and KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(up 0.13%) were among the top gainers.

Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(down 2.76%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(down 1.87%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 1.85%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 1.61%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd.(down 1.44%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(down 1.41%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 1.27%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 1.26%), EID Parry(India)Ltd.(down 1.25%) and Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 1.22%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 30.4 points down at 24349.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 108.94 points at 80532.13 at around 10:04AM.

Tata Motors Ltd.(up 3.25%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.16%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 0.91%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 0.74%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 0.66%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.48%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.41%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 0.39%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.39%) and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.37%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Asian Paints Ltd.(down 1.46%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 1.14%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 1.03%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.02%), NTPC Ltd.(down 0.93%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.89%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 0.87%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.79%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.75%) and Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(down 0.68%) were trading in the red.
