Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.33%

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.33 per cent down at 21462.45.

market-shutter — Agarwal said the global economy is showing clear signs of recovery. The second wave of Covid-19 is ebbing in India with total active cases at less than 20 per cent of May highs.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Mankind Pharma Ltd.(up 2.69 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.16 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.08 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(up 1.48 per cent) and Granules India Ltd.(up 1.28 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 2.08 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 2.03 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.35 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 1.08 per cent) and Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.33 per cent down at 21462.45.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 34.81 points at 24414.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 105.71 points at 80746.78.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Welspun India, Suzlon Energy and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bharat Seats, BSE, Reliance Naval & Engg, SRF and Aster DM Health hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Karda Const, Godha Cabcon & Insul, GI Engineering, Ind-Swift Labs and AGS Transact Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
