Adam's report on the Shannon Matthews court case
The mum of nine-year-old Shannon Matthews has gone on trial accused of being involved in her daughter's disappearance in West Yorkshire.
Shannon disappeared after a swimming trip in February, but was found 24 days later a mile from her home in Dewsbury.
Karen Matthews, 32, is accused of child cruelty and being partly responsible for Shannon's kidnap and imprisonment.
A 40-year-old man, Michael Donovan, is also accused of taking Shannon, but both deny doing anything wrong.
When Shannon was reported missing, thousands of police officers took part in what became one of the biggest searches for a missing person the UK has ever seen.

After she was found, friends and neighbours had a massive party to celebrate, but just days later Shannon's mum was arrested.
She denies being involved in her daughter's disappearance and says she didn't give police false information when she reported Shannon missing.
In court
Now it's up to a jury of 12 men and women at Leeds Crown Court to decide what really happened.
First they'll hear from lawyers who will show the evidence that they say proves Karen Matthews and Michael Donovan are guilty.
Then the defence lawyers will get a chance to argue why the pair are innocent.
