Darlington welcomes new faces:

Eighteen new faculty members, including both new and familiar faces, will be joining Darlington School in the fall:



Flo Anthony will teach fourth grade at the Lower School. Anthony earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a teacher certification from Berry College. She previously taught gifted children at Cass Middle School in Cartersville, taught at West Central Elementary, acted as an extended substitute teacher at Pepperell Middle School, and was a self-employed business owner.



Sandra Barker is now working in with gift maintenance support in the Development Office. She recently worked as a secretary and financial assistant for West Rome Christian Church. She also worked for Dayton Steel Service - doing data entry and inventory control – and the Woodmen of the World Insurance Society.



Karen Bennett, Darlington parent and avid volunteer, has been hired as the secretary to Sally Rudert, academic dean. Bennett earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Valdosta State College. She served as Darlington School’s Parents Association secretary from 2000-2001 and has worked as an export manager and an assistant to the president at IFF, Inc., as a sales coordinator at Trans Freight Lines, Inc., and as an office manager and import services manager at Frederick Richards of Georgia, Inc.



Jason Childs is joining the Darlington community to teach Upper School English. Childs earned a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Penn. He previously worked as a lacrosse clinic counselor, a pool manager for Century Pool Management, a swimming instructor for the Children’s Center, and a counselor at the St. Paul’s School for Boys summer camps.



Ron DeSantis is joining the Upper School history department. DeSantis earned bachelor’s degrees in history and political science from Yale University, New Haven, Conn. While at Yale, he worked for the political science department, the athletic department, and the university sports camp. He has work experience with the Sonic Corporation and the office of Senator Connie Mack.



Claudia Floyd has been hired as the new postmistress. Floyd earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Berry College. She spent last year as a substitute teacher at Darlington, and she has worked as a board member and volunteer for the American Red Cross, an office manager for Northwest Georgia OB/GYN Associates, and a buyer for Pappagallo.



Mandy Foote, wife of Tim Foote, Upper School history faculty, junior varsity football and boys lacrosse head coach, will serve the School as the gift officer for reunion giving in the Development Office. Foote expects to earn a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Covenant College in October. She has worked at Citizens First Bank as a sales manager and business development officer, at Cimbar Performance Minerals in sales and marketing, at Dixie Transportation Company in the sales division, and at Lomas International in technical sales.



Kristen Fox ’97 returns to Darlington, but as a admission representative rather than a student. She is Darlington's new national advancement representative. Fox earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Georgia, Athens. She spent four years as a counselor at Camp Darlington and was a summer intern at the Harbin Clinic for two years.



Karen Johnson, Darlington parent, will begin teaching art at the Middle and Upper schools this fall. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in art from the University of Georgia. She previously taught art at Armuchee High School, East Rome High School, and Pepperell Elementary School.



Michael Magidson will teach history at the Upper School. Magidson earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. At Vassar, he was an academic intern for the history department for two years, and he spent one year as a substitute teacher at Tampa Preparatory School. He also worked as a summer intern for Senator Bob Graham and as a summer counselor and lifeguard for Falling Creek Camp.



James Milford, husband of Angie Milford, Upper School faculty and varsity girls basketball head coach, will serve as Head of Milford House in Persons Hall. Previously James has worked at Darlington on a consulting basis as a network engineer through Computer Consulting Services. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Shorter College, Rome. His work experience also includes a three-year stint as an assistant network administrator at Shorter College.



Sally Muschamp will teach Middle School English. Muschamp earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Fla., and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala. She previously taught pre-kindergarten at Childcare Network, Inc., first grade at Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools in Tennessee, and first and fifth grades in the Floyd County school system, and she served as a substitute teacher for Fort Campbell Schools in Kentucky.



Lisa Nichols, wife of alumnus Tom Nichols '76 and Darlington parent, has joined the Development Office to assist with the Annual Fund and alumni support. Nichols spent six years at AT&T as an account representative, sales associate, and customer service representative. Prior to that, she worked with Kelly Temporary Services and was an office manager at Enterprise Insurance Agency.



Angela Pieroni, wife of Joe Pieroni, Upper School math faculty, varsity baseball assistant coach, and Middle School boys basketball head coach, will teach Middle School science. Pieroni received a graduate education at the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, and Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, and she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Dayton. She recently taught language arts at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Rome. She also taught language arts and science at Tri-County North Middle School, Lewisburg, Ohio, and taught gifted children at Lincoln I.G.E. Elementary School, Nassau, Ohio. She also worked as an etiquette and communication consultant for the Girl Scout Division of At Ease, Inc., and as a per diem educational consultant for Harcourt Brace School Publishers, Inc.



Dee Dee Rhodes, wife of Headmaster David Rhodes and Darlington parent, will teach Middle School math. Rhodes earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has served as an algebra tutor for Darlington since 1986 and she taught math at West Rome Junior High.



Former Upper School faculty Phil Titus is returning to Darlington Upper School as the science department chair. Titus earned a master’s in physiology at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Conn., and a bachelor’s degree in biology at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Penn. He has also earned 30 graduate hours in biological sciences at Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, Conn. After leaving Darlington in 1998, he taught science at Pace Academy for three academic years. He has also taught science at The Nichols School, Buffalo, N.Y., and The Canterbury School, Conn.



Kim Tunnell is joining the Middle School as a music teacher. Tunnell earned bachelor’s degrees in music and music education from Shorter College and a master’s degree in music education from the University of West Georgia, Carrollton. She previously served as a chorus/music teacher at Pepperell Middle School and Cartersville Middle School, a part-time music teacher at Midway Primary School, and a pianist/accompanist for Second Avenue Baptist Church.



Kristen Yamzon is coming to Darlington to teach history at the Upper School. Yamzon earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Emory University, Atlanta, and received a social science education at Stetson University, DeLand, Fla. She has worked as a computer teacher and a computer lab assistant at St. George’s High School's summer program, a day care assistant, a lifeguard and swim instructor, and an archivist and tour guide at the Volusia County Historical Society.
