Archives held at Senate House Library are divided into two management groups, the University Archive, and Deposited Collections and Manuscripts.
The University Archive comprises records created by the central administration of the University of London. The Deposited Collections include archives of individuals and corporate bodies.
Free Access to Archives and Manuscripts
In addition to our regular memberships we offer a free day ticket for researchers accessing archives and manuscripts. This ticket is not valid for accessing other areas or resources within the Library. Proof of address and photo ID will be required. Once at the Library, please visit the Membership Desk on the 4th floor of Senate House.
Access for all archive researchers must be arranged at least one working day in advance with Special Collections (before 4pm on working days). Messages left after 4.00pm will be processed the following working day. shl.specialcollections@london.ac.uk
