The Fiji Corrections Service is obligated to serve the Public by keeping in custody those committed by the Courts. Our duty is to save lives by looking after them with humanity and help them lead law abiding and useful lives in custody and after release.

Our mission is to provide an effective and efficient prisons and corrections system through the adoption of innovative programs of offender management and rehabilitation programs.”

We will achieve this by being Captains of Lives of offenders who are committed to our custody and we will be instrumental in steering them towards being productive and responsible citizens, with the help of their families and the community.

POLICY OBJECTIVES

Our policy objectives are to protect the public by holding prisoners securely and reducing the risk of prisoners re-offending.



ORGANISATIONAL THEME FOR 2011

Building from its previous years themes the FCS has designated the year 2011 with the theme “Relentless Pursuit of Excellence”. This simply means that the members of the FCS will continue to pursue excellence in all facets of their duties and responsibilities.


OUR PLEDGE

It is also essential that officers be mentally tuned in order to be able to relentlessly pursue excellence in the performance of their duties hence the FCS has defined the following pledge for that purpose which its members are obligated to memorise and recite daily before the commencement of their duties.

The Fiji Corrections Service Corporate Plan 2011 is the second phase of its five year strategic plan 2010 – 2014. The plan defines the various strategies and activities the FCS will undertake during the year to fulfill its functions as stipulated under the new Prisons and Corrections Act 2006 and its obligations under the Peoples Charter for Change, Peace and Progress.

Basically, the FCS has identified the five strategic areas which it will focus its efforts during the year in order to achieve its desired service delivery and work output. The five strategies are based on the FCS Strategic Development Plan 2010 – 2014 and our response to the Peoples Charter for Change, Peace and Progress
