World Youth Day is an extraordinary gift to the Church in Australia.

It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience this great gathering of young people from around the world on our own shores, in our own homes and in our parish communities.

Activ8 is the name given to the pastoral program of events, activities and materials developed by WYD08 to prepare our young people across the dioceses in our parishes, youth groups, schools and homes for World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney.

Drawn from Acts 1 v8, the scriptural reference of the WYD08 theme chosen by the Holy Father, Activ8 has a twofold purpose:

• to unite all the elements of the pastoral preparation, and
• to call on each of us to 'activate' those elements in personal commitment to World Youth Day 2008
