AEGON new head sponsor AFC Ajax

AEGON will be the new head sponsor of AFC Ajax from 1 July 2008. The sponsorship deal between Ajax and AEGON has been laid down for a period of 7 years, in which an annual sponsorship amount of maximally 12 million euro will be paid.

This amount consists of a fixed component of 10 million euro and a variable part of 2 million euro. Furtherrmore, as an affirmation of the launch as head sponsor, another 1.5 million is added, divided over the first three years. The total sponsorship amount can add up to 85.5 million euro, minus VAT. AEGON will have a prominent place on the official match kits of all Ajax teams from next season.

AEGON is a company of Dutch origins with a global appeal that operates on the international pensions and life insurance market in amongst others Europe, America and Asia. Ajax and AEGON recognize each other in the same progressive and ambitious vision for the future. For instance, both parties meet each other on the way toward the intended collaboration with parties in China and South-East Asia. Ajax are counting on a fruitful and sportive collaboration.

After 19 years of successful collaboration, by mutual agreement, the head sponsorship of ABN AMRO changes to a sponsor partnership for a period of three years. ,,ABN AMRO has proven to be a very strong and loyal partner for years. A little over a year ago, we started talks about the future and ambitions of Ajax with ABN AMRO. This has lead to the bank saying it did not want to slow us down in our ambitions and for that we also thank ABN AMRO'', managing director Maarten Fontein says.
