About the author (2008)

Prem Poddar is Alexander von Humboldt Senior Fellow at Zentrum Moderner Orient in Berlin. He is the author of Violent Civilities (2002) and has edited Translating Nations (2000) and Empire and After: Englishness in Postcolonial Perspective (2007). Lars Jensen is Lecturer at Cultural Encounters at Roskilde University.
