About the author (2009)

Paul Finkelman is President William McKinley Professor of Law and Public Policy at Albany Law School and the author of more than twenty books including the Library of Congress Civil War Desk Reference. Martin J. Hershock is Associate Professor and Department Chair of History at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the author of The Paradox of Progress: Economic Change, Individual Enterprise, and Political Culture in Michigan.
