The collection consists of items from 1836-1974 collected by Ralph Edmond Wager. The collection contains serveral letters to and from Alexander H. Stephens (1834-1845) and some Civil War letters including a letter from Robert E. Lee to General James Longstreet (October 26, 1862) reporting the destruction resulting from skirmishes at Manassas (Va.); documents including land grants, slave bills, bonds; and financial records (1839-1865). The collection also includes Wager's own photographs of flowers, manuscripts of his writings, and materials pertaining to clergyman and socialist Bouck White, who lived in New York from 1924-1951. Among the White materials are Wager's correspondence (1962-1967) concerning a biography of White, articles by and about White, photographs, and Wager's typescript of White's biograpy which was never published
