Biography
Described by Richard Attenborough as "unquestionably the greatest actor of his generation" Hopkins was set to assume the mantle of Sir Laurence Olivier. But the boy from Port Talbot never fitted in with the National Theatre poshies and became a cannibal instead. Indeed, despite a plethora of films throughout the 80s and 90s Hopkins is best remembered for his Oscar-winning role as Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs (1991) and its sequel Hannibal. He starred as the retired swashbuckler in Mask of Zorro (1998) but returned to playing disturbed psychiatrists in Instinct.
